answer text
The death of a hunger striking prisoner while in Israeli custody is alarming. The UK condemns the indiscriminate rocket fire from Gaza targeting innocent civilians in Israel in retaliation and welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and militant factions in Gaza, brokered by Egypt. The ceasefire must now be honoured to prevent the loss of further civilian life. The UK will support all efforts to promote dialogue and create a pathway towards sustainable peace.
more like this

answer text
In addition to Royal Fleet Auxiliaries, there are sufficient UK seafarers currently resourced by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to conduct overseas operations to meet current operational commitments. This arrangement includes four Roll-on Roll-Off vessels which are operated by Foreland Shipping Limited under an MOD contract.

During periods of conflict which demand resource above current MOD capacity, the UK Merchant fleet is used to meet this requirement. The MOD is unable to comment on the size and employment status of UK seafarers working outside the MOD as this is the responsibility of the Maritime Coastguard Agency, which is an executive agency of the Department of Transport.
more like this

answer text
The UK is committed to the long-term goal of a world without nuclear weapons, in line with our obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). The Government firmly believes that the best way to achieve a world without nuclear weapons is through gradual multilateral disarmament negotiated using a step-by-step approach under the NPT. The UK will not sign or ratify the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) as we do not believe that this treaty will bring us closer to a world without such weapons. The TPNW fails to address the security obstacles that must first be overcome to achieve lasting global nuclear disarmament. It will not improve the international security environment or increase trust and transparency, and risks undermining the NPT.
more like this
