answer text
The Nigerian authorities have a responsibility to investigate and prosecute all war crimes, crimes against humanity and other human rights abuses committed on their territory. We continue to make clear to the Nigerian authorities, at the highest levels the importance of protecting civilians including ethnic and religious minorities, and human rights for all. The Minister for Africa discussed the impact of violence in Nigeria with President Buhari's Chief of Staff, on 29 June.

An International Criminal Court (ICC) preliminary examination into the situation in Nigeria commenced in 2010, and focussed on alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity including by Boko Haram in the North East. The ICC Prosecutor acknowledged that steps have been taken by the Nigerian authorities to investigate these offences but requested further information and evidence demonstrating that relevant national proceedings are being conducted or are intended to be conducted.

The Nigerian Human Rights Commission, set up by the Nigerian Federal Government, also serves as an extra-judicial mechanism to safeguard the human rights of Nigerians. The UK Government will continue to push for allegations of war crimes, crimes against humanity and other human rights abuses to be investigated by the Nigerian authorities, and for those responsible to be held to account. Suspects should have access to justice and cases should be carried out in accordance with Nigerian law and international human rights standards.

answer text
SecurMed, the United Kingdom’s National Medicines Verification Organisation, is responsible for the fee model and level of fees. In their supervisory capacity, the Department and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency have been involved in discussions with SecurMed to challenge and seek to influence the pricing model to ensure that the UK’s fee structure is fair and proportionate.

The European Commission has confirmed that the fee model being used by SecurMed is in line with the majority of other National Medicines Verification Organisations across the European Union.

However, in light of feedback on the potential impact of the proposed level of fees for smaller companies, SecurMed has announced an annual fee waiver scheme for the Marketing Authorisation Holders (MAH) Set up Fee and Annual MAH Operational Fee applicable to those MAH or Parallel Distributor legal entities who can demonstrate that they are a micro MAH in the relevant year.

There continues to be on-going efforts at a national and European level to ensure that fee models take into account the specific situation of small companies.

answer text
The current dual system, where maintained schools and academies (including free schools) have different requirements on a number of key areas including funding, financial compliance, performance oversight, parental complaints and how they are required to adhere to legislation, does not provide consistent expectations on professionals or clarity and assurance for pupils and parents.

This government believes a single system with all schools as academies, which affords greater autonomy to professionals and is governed by a single legal framework along with clear and robust accountability, will provide a level playing field for all and the conditions for future success. It will give clarity on roles and responsibilities and secure efficiency. Running a dual system diverts resources, time and focus away from the classroom.
more like this
