It sets out an ambitious future for devolution across the United Kingdom, including a flexible approach to empowering local areas to deliver on their local ambitions. Our next steps include engaging with local authorities to explore their interest in this approach, including those within the Oxford-Cambridge Arc. We continue to recognise the importance of the Arc as a globally renowned area of innovation for life sciences, space and green technologies. In October 2021, we completed a 12 week public consultation gathering views to shape a vision for an Arc Spatial Framework. The Jet Zero Council, announced in June, will bring together DfT and BEIS Secretaries of State and CEO-level stakeholders to drive high ambition in the delivery of new technologies and innovative ways to cut aviation emissions.</p><p> </p><p>The potential electrification of maritime routes and use of shore power alongside to reduce emissions was assessed as part of the Department’s work to develop the Clean Maritime Plan published in Summer 2019. This page is regularly updated and provides the latest information and guidance on how the UK’s exit from the EU might impact on UK nationals living in the EU. The page also includes detail of the citizens’ rights agreement, which will provide UK nationals with more certainty about residence, healthcare, pensions and other benefits.<br><br></p><p>The Government is also using other communication channels to engage with UK nationals in the EU, reaching out to UK nationals at meetings, events and online. Ministers from the Department for Exiting the European Union have met delegates from groups representing UK nationals in the EU, to hear their concerns. question text	To ask Her Majesty’s Government what estimate they have made of the increased number of childcare staff that will be required for the implementation of the 30 hours free childcare a week for three- and four-year-olds from September.

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/04/2017 answer text <p>The number of places, and therefore staff, required to deliver 30 hours will depend on a variety of factors, including existing take up of additional childcare outside the current free entitlement. Many working families with three-and four-year olds already use more than 15 hours of childcare so many of the required childcare places already exist. There is also existing spare capacity in the system to help deliver the new entitlement.</p><p> </p><p>Local authorities continue to be required to secure sufficient childcare, and therefore staff to fulfil those places in line with ratio requirements, as far as is reasonably practicable, for working parents or parents who are studying or training for employment, for children aged 0-14 (or up to 18 for disabled children).</p><p> </p><p>In March, the Department published an early years workforce strategy, which set out a number of measures to support the sector to recruit, retain and develop staff. This included announcing that to support recruitment, from 3 April 2017 the English and maths qualification requirements for level 3 Early Years Educators would be broadened out to include other suitable level 2 qualifications, including functional skills.</p><p> </p><p>We continue to support growth and the creation of new places to deliver the 30 hours funded entitlement. In 2016, we ran a £50 million early years capital bid round, for which local authorities, in partnership with providers, were invited to submit bids. This investment will create almost 9,000 additional places for eligible children to help meet demand.
