answer text
Each Government Department is responsible for its own Retained EU Laws (REUL). They are currently in the process of assessing and developing proposals for whether they intend to revoke or reform each piece of legislation, or preserve it from the sunset, following normal policy-making procedures. This will include assessing whether the REUL is still needed, if it is operable and fit for purpose, working with relevant stakeholders as appropriate. Any resultant legislation will be laid before Parliament in the usual way. The Government plans to update the retained EU law dashboard to reflect the outcome of this process on a quarterly basis.

more like this

answer text
Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service do not have a specific policy in relation to spectating at sporting events for prison leavers and/or people on probation. However, we recognise that rehabilitation plans need to be tailored to individuals.

Rehabilitation of ex-offenders can take a number of forms. As well as work focusing on challenging offending behaviour, rehabilitation requires reintegration of the individual safely into the community. This involves enabling individuals to access relationships and networks that provide opportunities in work and education as well as promoting opportunities for people to get involved in community focused activities.

Participation in a sporting event is often a positive social activity and unless an individual were restricted due to the nature of their offence, we would consider this a supportive and potentially rehabilitative activity.
more like this

answer text
All allegations of rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment made by members of the Armed Forces are thoroughly investigated by either the Civil or Service Police forces, depending upon who has jurisdiction.

Over the last three years there have been four cases of sexual harassment reported to the Service Police or the Ministry of Defence Police in which they have retained jurisdiction for the matter. These are broken down as follows:

Year

Service

Number of Cases

2014

Royal Navy

1

2014

Army

1

2016

Royal Navy

1

2016

Army

1

Over the same period, there have been no cases of sexual harassment dealt with by way of a Summary Hearing. Cases of sexual harassment dealt with by Courts Martial are as follows:

Year

Service

Number of Defendants

Number of Charges

Outcome

2014

Royal Air Force

1

2

2 x Guilty

2014

Army

1

2

2 x Guilty

2015

Royal Air Force

2

2

2 x Guilty

2015

Royal Navy

1

1

1 x Guilty

2016

Army

3

4

3 x Guilty 1 x Not Guilty

2016

Royal Navy

1

1

1 x Guilty

The Service Police figures may not represent the totality of allegations. To do so would require the manual interrogation of all offences investigated by the Service Police to establish whether there were any secondary offences of harassment. Similarly, whilst there were no offences of harassment dealt with by way of Summary Hearing during this period, it is possible that the cases may have been charged as an alternative Service conduct offence and dealt with summarily. It would not be possible to establish the extent of this without manually examining every conduct case dealt with summarily.
