answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/02/2023 answer text <p>As part of our reforms following the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union (EU), provisions within the Medicines and Medical Devices Act 2021 enable us to overhaul medical devices and clinical trial frameworks so patients can get access to new lifesaving medicines and medical devices more quickly. We know the serious impact that persistent ASB can have on both individuals and communities. The 'Beating Crime Plan' published on 27 July 2021 laid out the Government’s commitment to working with local agencies and partners to drive down anti-social behaviour.</p><p> </p><p>The <em>Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 </em>provides a range of flexible tools and powers to local agencies to tackle anti-social behaviour. Local areas decide how best to deploy these powers depending on the specific circumstances of each individual case.</p><p> </p><p>Police recorded incidents do show a fall in ASB since 2013/2014 from around 2.1m to 1.8m incidents in the year to June 2020/2021.</p><p> </p><p>Home Office statutory guidance, which was updated last year, supports all local agencies in using the powers from the <em>Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 </em>and in taking the multi-agency approach that is needed to tackle and prevent anti-social behaviour in a way that takes account of the needs of the victim and the wider community</p> answering member printed Baroness Williams of Trafford question first answered 25/01/2022 17:03:03 answering member 4311 label Biography information for Baroness Williams of Trafford

We must oppose attempts by any state to restrict press freedom, silence debate, abuse journalists, or spread misinformation. We are monitoring individual cases of concern around the world, and we are working with international partners on how best to support media freedom, including raising our concerns where appropriate.</p><p>The UK has publicly raised the issue of media freedom in China, including priority cases such as the sentencing of citizen journalist and rights activist Huang Qi in 2019. British diplomats have attempted to attend trials of civilian journalists and rights activists in China to show support.</p><p>In Hong Kong, media freedom is guaranteed under the Joint Declaration and Basic Law. In our six-monthly reports to Parliament on Hong Kong, we have regularly highlighted the importance of freedom of the press and set out our views on specific incidents of concern. We did so in the most recent report on 11 June. We will continue to raise the need to uphold Hong Kong's high degree of autonomy and rights and freedoms with the Hong Kong and Chinese authorities, as the Foreign Secretary did with State Councillor and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on 8 June.</p><p>We have announced our intention to establish a UK autonomous Global Human Rights ('Magnitsky-style') sanctions regime. The regulations will come into force in the coming months. It is not appropriate to confirm who might be designated under the sanctions regime before the designations are in place. The consolidated transport budget of £20.6 million per annum to 2020/21 has been given to the Sheffield City Region Combined Authority since 2017/18, giving the area greater flexibility over how to fund highway maintenance and other strategic transport improvements, and the Bus Services Act 2017 makes provision in relation to bus franchising for mayoral combined authorities. No further budgets or powers will be devolved unless and until all of the statutory requirements are satisfied, including the area undertaking the necessary consultation.</p><p>As I told the House on 31 October 2017 in response to a question from the noble Lord [in Written Answer HL2234], if the leaders of the Sheffield City Region do not at some stage undertake the consultation they will have chosen to walk away from the deal. Child road casualties are currently at an historic low. The total number of children who were killed or seriously injured (KSI casualties) in 2015, the last complete calendar year statistics are available for, is 13 per cent lower than the 2010-14 average and represents a 6 per cent fall from the previous year.</p><p> </p><p>Whilst recently published provisional figures for the year ending September 2016 suggest a rise in child KSI casualties in comparison with the year ending September 2015, it is important to note that these provisional figures are estimates based on incomplete returns from police forces and are subject to considerable uncertainty. The provisional 2016 statistics will be revised and not finalised until June 2017.</p><p> </p><p>The government remains firmly committed to providing cycle training to school children in order to give the next generation of cyclists the skills and confidence to cycle safely on local roads. In recognition of the importance of this, we will provide £50 million up to 2019/20 to support Bikeability cycle training in schools. This funding will help to increase children's road awareness, encourage active travel and improve future motorists’ empathy for more vulnerable road users. Recent research shows significant improvements in children’s ability to perceive road hazards after Bikeability training.</p><p> </p><p>We also support child road safety through our THINK! educational resources. The 100,000 Genomes Project is a research project which is investigating the benefits of whole genome sequencing for patients with cancer and rare diseases. One of the objectives of the Project is to establish the evidence to inform future decisions on National Health Service testing.</p><p> </p><p>The cancer part of the 100,000 Genomes Project has only recently completed the pilot phase and is incorporating those lessons into routine recruitment of cancer patients. To date, 1,286 tumour and normal genomes have been sequenced and are being interpreted by Genomics England. The pilot phase has involved research participants who have given informed consent, including details about whether there will be feedback of results during the pilot phase. The pilot phase has proved invaluable in understanding the technical requirements for sample preparation and data collection which will be incorporated into the main phase of recruitment in early 2016. Our security lies in diversity of sources and routes and the UK has significant levels of domestic production; pipelines to Norway, the Netherlands, and Belgium; four liquefied natural gas terminals connecting us to global markets; and eight gas storage sites with two more currently under construction.</p><p>Within the context of this overall diversity of infrastructure, we consider the current levels of gas storage to be sufficient for energy security.
