answer text <p>We are concerned by restrictions to media freedom in Ethiopia, including the arrest of many journalists. The UK has consistently called for an end to infringements on media freedom - journalists must have the right to report freely. I raised the issue of large-scale detentions in Ethiopia with Minister for Justice Gedion on 20 January and plan to write to Justice Minister Gedion regarding arrests of journalists and the recent expulsion of a British journalist. The British Embassy in Addis Ababa tweeted on 18 May urging the Government of Ethiopia to protect and uphold media freedom.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) strengthen the obligations on organisations to process individuals’ data fairly, lawfully and transparently and to keep it safe and secure. It also strengthens individuals’ rights to seek to access, rectify or delete their data.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>This legislation is regulated and enforced by the independent Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). The ICO has issued comprehensive guidance for organisations on how to comply with the legislation and is also working closely with specific sectors to address areas of risk.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>If individuals have concerns about the way online services are processing their data, they may wish to complain to the ICO. The ICO has a range of corrective powers and sanctions to enforce the GDPR, including:</p><ul><li><p>issuing warnings and reprimands;</p></li><li><p>imposing a temporary or permanent ban on data processing;</p></li><li><p>ordering the rectification, restriction or erasure of data; and</p></li><li><p>suspending data transfers to third countries.</p></li></ul><p> </p>

answer text <p /> <p>For claimants of Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income Support, income-related Employment and Support allowance or Pension Credit, half of any contributions towards an occupational or personal pension scheme are deducted from any income from employed earners’ employment taken into account when calculating entitlement. In the case of self-employed earners, half of all premiums paid into a personal pension scheme are deducted from the claimant’s income taken into account.</p><p> </p><p>For Universal Credit, earned income is only taken into account after allowing for 100% of pension contributions to appropriate schemes. Universal Credit is therefore intended to incentivise more people on a low income to put money aside to save for their later lives.</p><p> </p> more like this
