answer text <p>The current Force Majeure claim is unprecedented in its scale and complexity and the focus within the Department has been to provide the time and resources to reach the correct conclusion.</p><p> </p><p>We have not recorded staff hours as it does not serve a useful purpose to meet this outcome; however, I can confirm that there has been a team of officials across the Department assessing the core part of the claim.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Passengers simply want to see this futile dispute resolved.</p><p> </p><p>This is doing nothing but hurting passengers, and we urge the unions involved to get around the negotiating table with Govia Thameslink Railway and stop inflicting unnecessary pain on passengers on this part of the network.</p><p> </p><p>As we have repeatedly made clear, this is a dispute between employers and employees. However the Secretary of State met with ASLEF - before they decided to strike - and I strongly urge both ASLEF and RMT to get back round the negotiating table with the serious intention of actually resolving this dispute.</p><p> </p><p>The Secretary of State for Transport and the Rail Minister have repeatedly said if the unions suspend their strike action, they will meet with them.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We have continually urged all sides to get back around the negotiating table and end this dispute which is causing immense pain and misery for thousands of hard working commuters. In December last year the Secretary of State offered to meet with the unions to try and help resolve this dispute. He repeated this offer in a letter to the unions in January. However we have yet to receive a reply indicating that they are willing to suspend the strikes and meet.</p><p> </p><p>Ministers and officials have been working tirelessly to try and find a way through this dispute, but the unions appear to have little interest in any resolution that does not involve a full roll-back of modern working practices which includes the introduction of new trains.</p> more like this
