answer text <p>The Insolvency Service takes robust enforcement action against directors where there is evidence of unfit conduct and will bring disqualification proceedings where in the public interest.</p><p>The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 will further strengthen these safeguards. Individuals who are disqualified under director disqualification legislation will be prohibited from being appointed as a director and their existing directorships will become void. The Act also extends the grounds for making a director disqualification order so that individuals who persistently breach new identity verification or filing requirements may face disqualification.</p> more like this

answer text <p>In the case of programmes that are funded directly by the Department, economic evaluation is carried out according to guidance set out in the Green Book: appraisal and evaluation in central government.</p><p> </p><p>A report on the impact of incubators and accelerators on start-up businesses and on the wider business ecosystem was commissioned by the Department in 2019 and is available at <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-impact-of-business-accelerators-and-incubators-in-the-uk" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-impact-of-business-accelerators-and-incubators-in-the-uk</a>. answer text <p>The Government supports the social enterprise sector in a number of ways. This includes;</p><ul><li><p>targeted support for social enterprises in disadvantaged places through the £4.1million Social Enterprise Boost Fund, that will provide support such as training, networking and peer learning and includes £1.5million of grants for entrepreneurs to kickstart their social enterprises;</p></li><li><p>access to finance, including £485 million of dormant assets funding that has been allocated to social investment, supporting thousands of charities and social enterprises across England;</p></li><li><p>increasing participation in delivering public services through the £900,000 VCSE Contract Readiness Fund announced in September;</p></li><li><p>support for start-ups including the government backed Start Up Loans Company that provides loans of up to £25,000 per director to support entrepreneurs to start and grow a business.</p></li></ul><p>The Government recognises the social enterprise sector’s contribution to society and the economy and welcomes collaboration between social enterprises and other forms of socially oriented business who are working to achieve positive societal benefits.</p><p> </p>

answer text <p>Business accelerators are widely available with approximately 180 programmes currently operating. These accelerators are backed by investment firms, corporations, and the public sector. They range from national programmes such as NatWest Accelerator, with thirteen hubs across the UK, to those with a local focus, such as Phase One based at the University of York and supporting businesses in their first year working within the digital, creative, technology and science sectors.</p><p> </p><p>The availability of virtual and hybrid accelerator programmes means that all businesses potentially have access to these services, wherever they are located in the UK.</p> more like this
