<p>We have no plans to establish a taskforce to address the research, workforce and
clinical needs of people with a neurological condition. The Department is committed
to supporting those living with a neurological condition and the provision of services
is a whole system responsibility across primary, secondary and specialist care in
the National Health Service and social care. Specialised elements of neurology care
are provided through the 25 specialised neurological treatment centres in England
to ensure that those with more complex health needs receive the best possible care.</p><p>NHS
England’s neuroscience transformation programme has worked with stakeholders, including
patients and expert working groups to identify consensus on best practice, including
principles on access to appropriate timely services for people with the range of neurological
services. The transformation programme continues to work with patient groups and stakeholders
to develop a new model for neurology services.</p><p> </p><p>The transformation programme
will provide integrated care systems with the tools, information and resources such
as the neurology data required to improve services, as systems assume joint or delegated
responsibility for commissioning specialised neurology services from April 2023. In
NHS England, patient and public voice partners are represented throughout the governance
structure to ensure that the views of patients, carers and the public are addressed.</p>
