The Government recognises the importance of these earliest years. In March 2021, the Government published “The Best Start for Life: A Vision for the 1,001 Critical Days”. This document set out a commitment to nominate a Cabinet Minister to ensure Start for Life is kept at the heart of decision-making across Government. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/11/2019 answer text <p>​The United Kingdom welcomes the Colombian Government's longstanding commitment to assisting former guerrilla fighters transition to civilian life.</p><p>We remain steadfast in our support of the Colombian authorities as they seek to ensure sustainable peace in Colombia, committing almost £45 million over 5 years through the UK Conflict Stability and Security Fund for Colombia to support development across conflict-affected regions. A proportion of these funds have directly supported the reintegration of ex-combatants into civilian and political life through programmes to train ex-combatants and host communities in income-generating activities; helping the FARC establish a humanitarian demining organisation; supporting ex-combatants and communities to work together to protect the environment; and building the Government's capacity to ensure the safety of former fighters. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/07/2015 answer text <p>The Digital Economy Centres were funded through the Research Council UK’s (RCUK) Digital Economy (DE) research programme. This theme has already invested over £170 million in applied multidisciplinary research across the Digital Economy - from societal challenges to technological solutions.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Next Generation DE Centres will operate over a five-year period and will draw substantially on the knowledge and successes of previous RCUK Digital Economy investments. We have funded six centres and will continue to monitor the impact of the programme as these centres become operational.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>There have been no ministerial or official level discussions with the Welsh Government on this issue. The Research Councils support academic research throughout the UK. The Centre based in Swansea is partnering with the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University NHS Trust and South Wales Police, amongst other partners.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The DE Centres were awarded as part of a peer reviewed competition during 2014/15. All applications were considered according to the RCUK standard peer review processes with research excellence as the primary criterion. <strong><em> </em></strong>Additional secondary assessment criteria such as evidence of co-creation with end-users, and clear plans to develop the UK Digital Economy community, were also considered.
