answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/09/2021 answer text <p>The Cabinet Office has a headcount of 8,889 as of 31 July 2021 (Data Source: SOP platform) of which 4,972 staff have declared their ethnic background. There are 984 ethnic minority members of staff in management grades that have declared their ethnicity; this is 19.8% of all staff that have declared their ethnic background. This is higher than the Civil Service average of 14.3% (Source: Annual Civil Service Employment Survey) and the Economic Active Population for ethnic minority people which is 13.6% (Source: <a href="https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/employmentandemployeetypes/datasets/labourmarketstatusbyethnicgroupa09" target="_blank">ONS August 2021</a>) The absolute number of ethnic minority staff in management positions is likely to be higher given the number of staff who have not made a declaration. The Cabinet Office has plans to increase the declaration rate in the department with a campaign during National Inclusion week in September.</p><p> </p><p>Number 10 is an integral part of the Cabinet Office and is included in this figure.</p><p> </p><p>Management grades are identified as grades Executive Officer (EO) and above.</p><p><br>For more wider information the government publishes statistics on Civil Service demographics annually on March 31st via the Office for National Statistics.
