There were an estimated 688 deaths of homeless people registered in England and Wales in 2020, 778 estimated deaths in 2019, 726 deaths in 2018 and 597 in 2017.<\/p>

These statistics do not indicate whether deaths occurred on the street or within accommodation. The definition of homelessness used in these statistics follows from what is available in death registrations data to identify affected individuals, which mainly includes people sleeping rough or using emergency accommodation such as homeless shelters and direct access hostels, at or around the time of death.<\/p>
The Government is committed to ending rough sleeping and has published a strategy backed by £2 billion setting out how we will achieve that.<\/p>"}

We have a proud history of providing protection to those who need it, in-line with our international obligations. But we have been clear that individuals in need of protection should avoid making dangerous journeys and claim asylum in the first safe country they reach \u2013 that is the fastest route to safety. The Nationality and Borders Bill will set up a range of measures to deter people from undertaking dangerous journeys via unauthorised routes.<\/p>
As set out in the New Plan for Immigration, we are committed to review the refugee family reunion rules. Refugee family reunion will only be permitted where refusing would be a breach of our international obligations. In practice, this means refugees will be able to sponsor their spouse or partner and under-18 children if they can show there are insurmountable obstacles to their relationship continuing anywhere other than the UK and it is in the child\u2019s best interests.<\/p>"}

The Government launched its COVID-19 action plan on 3 March.<\/p>
The fundamental objectives set out in the action plan are to deploy phased actions to Contain, Delay, and Mitigate any outbreak, using Research to inform policy development. In reference to the delay phase and the planned potential next steps the plan states below:<\/p>
\u201cAction that would be considered could include population distancing strategies (such as school closures, encouraging greater home working, reducing the number of large scale gatherings) to slow the spread of the disease throughout the population, whilst ensuring the country\u2019s ability to continue to run as normally as possible. The UK government education department\u2019s planning assumptions include the possibility of having to close educational settings in order to reduce the spread of infection.\u201d<\/p>
The COVID-19 action plan is attached.<\/p>
The United Kingdom is extremely well prepared for these types of outbreaks, we have central stockpiles of a range of medical products, including face masks, to mitigate supply problems and help ensure the uninterrupted supply to the National Health Service.<\/p>
We have well-established procedures to deal with supply problems, regardless of the cause, and work closely with industry, the NHS and others in the supply chain to help prevent shortages and to ensure that the risks to patients are minimised including any potential impact on patient waiting times.<\/p>
There have not been any specific discussions with dentists on this matter.<\/p>"}
