Our pledge of £1 billion to the Global Fund for 2023-2025 will save over 1 million lives, including by providing antiretroviral therapy for 1.8 million people and HIV counselling and testing for 48 million people. FCDO also supports research and market shaping initiatives into HIV commodities to improve their development, access and affordability, particularly in low-income and high-burden countries . For example, the UK funds the WHO hosted Special Programme of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction which has led important research on HIV, such as the recent ECHO trial on the link between HIV infection and contraceptive methods. FCDO also funds the International Partnership on Microbicides, a Product Development Partnership which develops innovative technologies, for example the dapivirine ring, the first long-acting HIV prevention product to help address women's unmet need for new methods of HIV-prevention. Our catalytic funding to MedAccess - an innovative social financing company for healthcare products - has led to the development of HIV-syphillis dual tests, and to securing HIV self-tests at a historic price of $1.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1211", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Mr Andrew Mitchell"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Sutton Coldfield"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Mr Andrew Mitchell"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2023-11-16", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2023-11-16T16:03:34.477Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "208"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2023-11-08", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Development Aid: HIV Infection"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what plans his Department has to work with (a) international organisations and (b) partners to improve access to (i) antiretroviral therapy and (ii) other affordable medications in regions with high HIV prevalence.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1512", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for David Mundell"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "David Mundell"} ], "uin" : "724"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1462135", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Home Office"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1462135/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

We are committed to making the UK the best place in the world to work and grow a business. As announced in the Queen’s Speech we will be bringing forward an Employment Rights Bill to deliver the greatest reform of workers’ rights in over 20 years.

These reforms include taking firm action to tackle what Matthew Taylor termed one-sided flexibility, where some businesses have transferred too much business risk to the individual, sometimes at the detriment of their financial security and personal well-being.

The numbers of visa applications made, approved and refused under Seasonal Workers Pilot scheme are published in the quarterly Immigration statistics. This information is available on the Gov.uk website at: www.gov.uk/government/publications/immigration-statistics-year-ending-june-2019/list-of-tables

The Seasonal Workers Pilot is a UK wide scheme. The recruitment and placement of migrant workers is managed by the two scheme operators who have been licensed to manage the pilot. Both scheme operators cover the whole of the country and in 2019 both operators were allocated 1,250 scheme places. The Home Office does not hold information relating to the allocation of workers to specific regions.

Any places allocated to applicants who subsequently decide not to travel to the UK are made available to other applicants.

The priority must always be ensuring the safety of residents. Where Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) cladding is present on housing over 18 metres in height, the Government is providing testing for local authorities, housing associations and private sector landlords free of charge. If the screening tests indicate that such cladding would not meet the limited combustibility requirements of the current Building Regulations guidance, local authorities, housing associations, private sector landlords and the fire and rescue service will determine the best course of action, communicating closely with residents.
