NHS England are responsible for the UK supply of the smallpox vaccine Modified Vaccinia Ankara (commercially known as Imvanex), which is being offered to people who are most at risk from monkeypox.<\/p>
While the Ministry of Defence does not currently have direct access to the vaccine, at risk Armed Forces personnel can access it free of charge in NHS vaccine hubs and sexual health clinics. Some sexual health services are contacting those individuals likely to be at highest risk to offer vaccination.<\/p>
In line with UK Health Security Agency guidance, the vaccine is not currently being offered to healthcare staff, including Defence Medical Services personnel, who work in non-specialist wards, clinics or frontline services. The government is committed to continuing support for school breakfast clubs and we are investing up to £24 million to continue our national programme for the next two years. This funding will support around 2,500 schools in disadvantaged areas meaning that thousands of children from low-income families will be offered free nutritious breakfasts to better support their attainment, wellbeing and readiness to learn.<\/p>
The focus of the programme is to target the most disadvantaged areas of the country, including the Department for Education\u2019s Opportunity Areas. Schools\u2019 eligibility for the programme is based on the Income deprivation affecting children index (IDACI) \u2013 a nationally recognised indicator of need \u2013 to ensure provision is directed where it is most needed. Schools will be eligible for the programme if they have 50% or more pupils within bands A-F of the IDACI scale.<\/p>
The enrolment process for schools joining the programme is currently ongoing, and we have seen a strong interest so far from eligible schools since we invited the expressions of interest. Schools are currently still able to apply to join the programme. As we are still registering schools for the programme, it is too early to publish a list of participating schools. The repatriation effort from India is a priority for the UK Government and is one of our largest Covid-19 repatriation operations, based on the number of British travellers there and the absence of commercial options. The scale of the challenge is immense. <\/em><\/p> Over 12,500 people <\/em>have already returned home on UK charter flights and we continue to work day and night to return more on daily flights from across India. <\/em>7 additional charter flights from Amritsar (Punjab), due to run between 5 and 11 May, were announced on 30 April. <\/em>We reserve as many seats as possible on all flights for the most vulnerable British nationals - these are our top priority<\/em><\/p>"}
