The Coalition Government takes the illegal wildlife trade very seriously.<\/p>
<\/p>
The Home Office will continue to work with other departments to ensure that the Government delivers on the UK Commitment to Action on the Illegal Wildlife Trade.<\/p>
<\/p>
Border Force will continue to play a lead role for the UK in respect of the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species, delivering risk based anti-smuggling controls at the border in line with agreed national priorities and taking account of latest available intelligence.<\/p>
<\/p>
The Home Office is also providing specific funding of £136,000 for the National Wildlife Crime Unit in each of the next two financial years to ensure that the Unit can continue its important work, including as the UK focal point for international police cooperation on all wildlife crime related matters, such as initiatives on the illegal wildlife trade.<\/p>
<\/p>
Border Force and the National Wildlife Crime Unit will consider specific requests to provide practical assistance and training to help tackle the illegal wildlife trade.<\/p>

The number of defendants proceeded against and found guilty of triable either way offences under the Control of Trade in Endangered Species Regulation 1997, together with Intentionally obstruct an authorised person acting in accordance with the powers conferred by Regulation, under Section 9(6) of the regulations, in England and Wales from 2011 to 2012 can be viewed in the table. Please note data for the triable either way offences prior to 2011, together with a large quantity of other offences to this day are kept on paper records which would require manual inspection. This would be at disproportionate cost.<\/p>

Friend, I have provided quarterly data back for the last ten years; the table illustrates how there are fewer households in temporary accommodation than the average under the last Administration.<\/p> This Government has retained a strong homelessness safety net protected in law, supported by £470 million in the current Spending Review period to prevent and tackle homelessness, rough sleeping and repossessions. We are seeing this investment making an impact with households now spending on average 7 months less in temporary accommodation than at the start of 2010.<\/p> We have also made some changes to the rules under the Localism Act to enable local authorities to end the main homelessness duty by arranging an offer of suitable accommodation in the private rented sector.
