Surgical interventions intended to reduce gender dysphoria commissioned by the National Health Service are recorded in three categories: masculinising genital surgery; feminising genital surgery; and masculinising chest surgery. Information on the number of surgical interventions for feminising genital surgery and masculinising chest surgery in 2020/21 is not currently held centrally. However, this data is expected to be available within the first quarter of 2022/23. While the allocated budget for specialist surgical procedures on the gender dysphoria pathway in 2020/21 was £19 million, actual spend can only be determined once the data on surgical numbers is available. The social care sector is invaluable to our country. Social care workers have shown incredible dedication during this extraordinary time.<\/p>

We truly value the work they are doing, which is why the Government set out steps in our Action Plan for Adult Social Care to support the workforce, ensuring we have the staff we need and that they feel both supported and valued.<\/p>

However, the independent Migration Advisory Committee has been very clear that immigration is not the answer to the challenges in this sector. As we implement the new immigration system, we want employers to focus on investing in our domestic work force.<\/p>

The Government is working with the sector in a number of ways to help support it during this difficult time and going forward, including extra funding and a national recruitment campaign.<\/p>

Additionally, the EU Settlement Scheme means that all EU and EAA citizens, and their family members, already in the UK, many of them working in social care, can stay in the UK and we are encouraging them to do so.<\/p>

The Government's position, as set out by the Prime Minister to Parliament on 22 February, is that the UK will be stronger, safer and better off remaining in a reformed EU.<\/p>
<\/p>
Under our new settlement the European Commission has agreed for the first time to set specific targets to reduce the overall burden on businesses in key sectors. The European Council Declaration on Competitiveness commits to \u2018doing more to reduce the overall burden of EU regulation, especially on SMEs and micro enterprises\u2019.<\/p>
<\/p>
To implement this, the European Commission has agreed to introduce a new burden review mechanism. It will conduct an annual survey of the burdens imposed on businesses at the EU level. This process will identify legislation that should be revised or repealed to bring costs down, and will mean that limiting the cost of regulation will be a priority when proposals are developed, negotiated and agreed.<\/p>
