As set out in the Living with COVID-19 Strategy, the Government and the UK Health Security Agency will continue to communicate to people most vulnerable to COVID-19 about available clinical interventions, including vaccination and treatments, as well as testing and public health advice.

All individuals aged six months old or above who are immunosuppressed were offered a vaccination in the Autumn 2023 COVID-19 vaccination programme, along with those in other clinical risk groups. The immunosuppressed group will be offered a further dose as part of the spring programme announced in February, that is being rolled out in England from mid-April. This follows the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation’s advice that those who are immunosuppressed are at particular risk of serious disease from COVID-19.

The Department continues to support schools to deliver media literacy education. There are many opportunities across the national curriculum for pupils to acquire knowledge of online media literacy. It is taught through the compulsory subjects of computing and citizenship and relationships, sex and health education (RSHE), which was introduced in September 2020. Non-online media literacy is also covered in history and English.

The computing curriculum teaches children how to use technology safely. This includes understanding the internet, using search technologies effectively, and being discerning when evaluating digital content.

Citizenship education equips pupils with the knowledge to explore issues critically, weigh evidence, make reasoned arguments, and take informed action. Pupils are taught the role of responsible journalism in democratic society, enabling them to identify misinformation.

The RSHE curriculum includes online relationships, the implications of sharing private or personal data, including images, online, harmful content and contact, cyberbullying, overreliance on social media, and where to get help and support for issues that occur online.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4703", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Baroness Barran"} } , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Baroness Barran"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2022-11-25", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2022-11-25T13:20:33.267Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "60"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Education"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Education"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2022-11-17", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Internet: Curriculum"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "2"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25277", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Lords"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask His Majesty's Government what consideration they have given to increasing the time devoted to online media literacy as part of the national curriculum.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4175", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Lord Stevenson of Balmacara"} } , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Lord Stevenson of Balmacara"} ], "uin" : "HL3528"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1364518", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Ministry of Defence"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1364518/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

The Autumn Statement provided an additional £2.3 billion for transport including: £1.1 billion for the local road network and £220 million to relieve congestion on the strategic road network; £150m for flood resilience activity; £80m to accelerate the rollout of Smart Ticketing; £390m for future transport technologies such as low emission and connected autonomous vehicles; and £450 million to trial digital signalling technology on the rail network to help improve reliability. We will announce in due course how this money will be spent, but it is likely to include investment in Lancashire.

There were no specific provisions in the Autumn Statement for improvements to the railway between Preston and Colne. However, as part of our commitment to transport investment to build the Northern Powerhouse, passengers travelling on that line will get a full hourly Sunday service – twice as many trains on Sunday compared to now, and with the entire Northern fleet being refurbished, passengers will notice rolling stock improvements across the franchise. Beyond that there is a franchise wide, £38m investment in bringing stations up to standard, with benefits for many stations including new platform seating, replacement shelters, new waiting rooms and toilets, and customer information screens.

Next year the Government will set out its priorities for investment in railway services and infrastructure in the next railway Control Period (2019-2024). As announced in the Autumn Statement 2015, the Government is providing £7 million through the Regional Air Connectivity Fund to support new air routes promoting domestic and international connectivity and stimulating jobs and growth. We are also already providing over £5 million in support for two air routes to London via Public Service Obligations.

In addition we are working with partners in aviation and aerospace sectors to develop both the skills and the modern infrastructure they need,

Aviation employers, including British Airways, all the UK’s major airports and the Royal Air Force have formed a Trailblazer group to develop new apprenticeship standards for the sector. Standards currently under development are aviation operations manager level 4, aviation ground specialist level 3, airside operator level 2 and aviation ground operative level 2. These apprenticeships will provide new training routes for the sector, which will attract government funding.

New Anglia LEP is also supporting the development of an Aviation Skills Academy at Norwich Airport through a £3m growth deal.

The Regional Growth Fund has supported the project to divert the A45 in Solihull which has facilitated the extension of the runway at Birmingham Airport to enable direct flights to the west coast of the USA and China. The fund has also provided two awards to GE Aviation to research novel and new technologies to increase aircraft operation and emissions efficiencies, and the development of new manufacturing processes for the aviation industry.

Finally, Gloucestershire LEP is putting in place key infrastructure at Staverton Airport to enable the private sector to develop more aircraft hangars in order to secure the long-term viability of the airport and maximise its contribution to the local economy. The project is seeking to attract aviation-related businesses including aircraft maintenance, flight training and corporate jet management companies.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4284", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Baroness Neville-Rolfe"} } , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Baroness Neville-Rolfe"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2015-11-30", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2015-11-30T12:25:22.067Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "26"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Business, Innovation and Skills"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Business, Innovation and Skills"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2015-11-10", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Aviation: Government Assistance"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "2"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25277", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Lords"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask Her Majesty’s Government what support they are giving to the aviation industry in the UK.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4303", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Baroness Kennedy of Cradley"} } , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Baroness Kennedy of Cradley"} ], "uin" : "HL3528"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/168498", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Foreign and Commonwealth Office"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/168498/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "
