The government\u2019s aspiration is to invest 2.5% of GDP on defence, when the fiscal and economic circumstances allow. The Prime Minister has been clear that the target and path towards 2.5% will be set out at the next Spending Review.<\/p>
The government has consistently prioritised defence spending. The Ministry of Defence was the first department to get certainty on its budgets in this Parliament. This settlement was the largest sustained spending increase in defence since the end of the Cold War, with a £24 billion uplift in cash terms over the four-year period. The Government\u2019s extraordinary funding settlements recognise the reliance of London\u2019s transport network on fare revenue, and Government is committed to compensating TfL for loss of fare revenue as a result of the pandemic. Since the onset of the pandemic, Government has provided TfL with close to £5 billion of emergency funding support, through settlements agreed in May 2020, October 2020, June 2021 and February 2022.<\/p>
In addition to these emergency funding settlements, the 2021 Spending Review settlement for London provides over a billion pounds of capital investment per year, in line with previous funding.<\/p>
In accordance with the 25 February 2022 extraordinary funding agreement, Government is considering a longer-term settlement for TfL for a period of 1-3 years in a way that is fair to the national taxpayer and provides value for money.<\/p>

The Government launched a call for evidence to inform the development of the Women's Health Strategy, which asked for views on a range of issues including those related to reproductive health and mental health. The Department is analysing the responses and we aim to respond after the summer. The Strategy will be published by the end of the year.<\/p>
The Department will also be developing a Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy, which we plan to publish later this year. We will consider issues related to reproductive health, including access to contraception services in a range of settings.
