Every school or college with confirmed RAAC has been assigned dedicated support from caseworkers and project delivery teams are also on hand to support with implementing mitigation plans.<\/p>Every case is unique and the impact on schools and colleges can be highly varied, including for students in years 11 and 13. Departmental officials work with schools and colleges to put in place a bespoke plan based on their circumstances. In some cases, there is no impact on teaching space, or it is limited to small areas. For others, mitigation plans can include using other spaces on the school site or locally until building works are carried out or temporary buildings are installed.<\/p>
Alongside Ofqual, the department has worked with examination awarding organisations to facilitate discussions with affected schools. Awarding organisations have agreed to be as flexible as possible within the constraints of their regulations and processes, for example by agreeing longer extensions for coursework and non-examination assessments where needed so that pupils have as much time as possible to complete these tasks.<\/p>"}

The Secretary of State has written to all building owners where the remediation of unsafe ACM cladding is not complete, pressing for progress. For the safety of residents in the buildings concerned, we are unable to publish correspondence as this could identify individual buildings.<\/p>
The Department has regular engagement with a named contact from each building to ensure progress with remediation is being made. Where building owners are failing to make acceptable progress, those responsible should expect further action to be taken \u2013 including naming and shaming and enforcement.<\/p>"}

The Government takes the unacceptable actions of Volkswagen (VW) Group extremely seriously. As we investigate what went wrong and what we can do to stop it happening again, the priority of course remains to protect the public. We expect VW to take every step necessary to protect its UK customers, but it is right that the Government carry out their own thorough and independent investigation.<\/p>
A written statement was made today (10 November) informing the House of the latest developments on the Department for Transport\u2019s vehicle emissions testing programme, following the revelations that VW had fitted defeat devices to some of its vehicles.<\/p>
The Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) is working to confirm that this issue is not industry wide. They have tested two VW group vehicles known to contain a defeat device and will rerun laboratory tests on popular cars sold in the UK to compare real world driving emissions against laboratory performance. This will include measuring CO2<\/sub> .<\/p>
The Secretary of State spoke to Dr Herbert Deiss of VW on 4 November to discuss CO2<\/sub> emissions, seeking information on those vehicles affected in the UK and the extent of the discrepancy. VW have stated that they are working hard to clarify the situation and are liaising with relevant approval authorities.<\/p>
The Secretary of State has written jointly with the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills to VW seeking clarification on several issues. Separately, officials from the Department for Transport, and its Agencies have held a number of discussions with VW regarding the recall of affected vehicles.<\/p>
The Department for Transport has not made a specific assessment of on road emissions in relation to type approval requirements, but officials are aware of the findings in published reports suggesting significant differences.<\/p>"}
