The Government is working closely with all local authorities to help them make payments to businesses in scope of the Small Business Grants Fund (SBGF) and the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grants Fund (RHLGF) as quickly and effectively as possible. As of 7 June £10.22 billion has been paid out to over 832,000 eligible business properties. On 1 May, my Rt. Hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy announced a further up to £617 million available to Local Authorities in England to support businesses that are out of scope of the existing schemes.

Where a local authority has funding remaining after having paid grants to all eligible businesses, they will need to undertake a reconciliation exercise with government. We will be providing further details of this, and timing for the delivery of remaining funding to eligible businesses, in due course.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4336", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Lord Callanan"} } , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Lord Callanan"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2020-06-16", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2020-06-16T16:11:31.217Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "201"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2020-06-02", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Business: Coronavirus"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "2"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25277", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Lords"} } ], "questionText" : "Her Majesty's Government by which date local authorities will be expected to distribute the combined funding from the Small Business Grant Fund, the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund and the Local Authority Discretionary Grant Fund; and if not all of the funds available have been spent by that date, what will happen to the amount not distributed.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4333", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Lord Scriven"} } , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Lord Scriven"} ], "uin" : "HL5104"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/830494", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Foreign and Commonwealth Office"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/830494/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

The Nicaraguan Government has taken some positive steps towards improving democracy and the rule of law. They invited the Organisation of American States (OAS) to observe the municipal elections in November 2017; committed to the monitoring of the next Presidential elections; and agreed a programme of visits by the OAS focused on strengthening democracy.

While the OAS noted “important advances” in Nicaragua’s electoral process in its preliminary report on the municipal elections, it also made clear that the country's electoral system would benefit from comprehensive electoral reform and a stronger judicial and administrative framework. Pressure on opposition parties, restrictions on the media and a weak judiciary all remain concerns for the strength of democracy in Nicaragua.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4210", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon"} } , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2018-02-08", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2018-02-08T16:56:20.043Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "16"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Foreign and Commonwealth Office"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Foreign and Commonwealth Office"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2018-01-25", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Nicaragua: Politics and Government"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "2"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25277", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Lords"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask Her Majesty's Government what is their assessment of the steps taken by the government of Nicaragua to hold free and fair elections and to ensure that its judicial system is independent, following approval of the proposed Nicaragua Investment Conditionality Act 2017 by the United States House of Representatives in October 2017.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4166", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Baroness Donaghy"} } , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Baroness Donaghy"} ], "uin" : "HL5104"} ], "itemsPerPage" : 10, "page" : 0, "startIndex" : 1, "totalResults" : 2, "type" : ["http://purl.org/linked-data/api/vocab#ListEndpoint", "http://purl.org/linked-data/api/vocab#Page"]} }
