Insecurity is impacting Nigerian communities of all faiths and undermining freedom of religion or belief, including in predominately Christian areas. I [Andrew Mitchell] raised the effects of rising insecurity on communities with then presidential candidate Bola Tinubu, in December 2022. The UK is funding peacebuilding projects in several Nigerian states which support community reconciliation by training peace ambassadors and faith leaders. Through our UK-Nigeria Security and Defence Partnership, we monitor the progress and effectiveness of our support to Nigeria to tackle insecurity and promote human rights. The UK Government looks forward to continuing this partnership at the next annual dialogue later this year. We will continue to help tackle insecurity and promote human rights, and to encourage the Nigerian Government to assist affected communities and implement long-term solutions.<\/p>"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1211", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Mr Andrew Mitchell"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Sutton Coldfield"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Mr Andrew Mitchell"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2023-06-12", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "groupedQuestionUIN" : {"_value" : "187334"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2023-06-12T15:49:55.627Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "208"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2023-06-02", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Nigeria: Christianity and Human Rights"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what recent assessment his Department has made of the impact of the UK-Nigeria partnership on (a) strengthening human rights and (b) supporting efforts to (i) uphold security and (ii) prevent violence against Christians in Nigeria.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4777", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Sarah Owen"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Luton North"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Sarah Owen"} ], "uin" : "187335"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1312215", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1312215/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

As we rebuild, we must build back better, greener, and faster. This means supporting green jobs, levelling up, accelerating our path to net zero, and creating long-term advantage for the UK.<\/p>

Spanning clean energy, buildings, transport, nature and innovative technologies, the Ten Point Plan will mobilise £12 billion of government investment to unlock three times as much private sector investment by 2030. In doing so we will support a further 90,000 green jobs across the UK by 2024, and up to 250,000 by 2030.
