Joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) could boost the UK economy by £1.8 billion each year and increase UK exports to CPTPP by £1.7 billion in the long run according to our published scoping assessment.

When the UK’s accession enters into force, UK businesses will be able to trade with all CPTPP members on preferential terms and the Government will support British businesses in seizing the opportunities created by our membership of CPTPP.

Accession could enhance the already strong trade links between Northern Ireland and CPTPP members, which for Northern Ireland goods exports alone was worth over £900 million in 2022.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4407", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Nigel Huddleston"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Mid Worcestershire"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Nigel Huddleston"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2023-06-01", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2023-06-01T16:09:30.743Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "214"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Business and Trade"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Business and Trade"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2023-05-23", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, what recent assessment she has made of the potential impact of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership on levels of trade for UK businesses in each of the next five years.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4131", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Jim Shannon"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Strangford"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Jim Shannon"} ], "uin" : "186346"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1639575", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Department for Business and Trade"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1639575/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

We are working closely with the Hospitality Sector Council, a collaboration between government and the hospitality sector, to deliver the 2021 Hospitality Strategy, with the aim of building the sector’s long-term resilience. A Delivery Report showing progress made was published in March.

The Council’s business-led working groups are considering ways to improve business resilience following the pandemic, including innovation and sustainable practices, energy efficiency, jobs and skills, local partnerships and improving access to finance.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to transform society. The effective use of technology can help to improve outcomes and we are exploring how AI can support teaching, as well as addressing its risks.

The Department has published a policy paper which sets out our position on the use of generative AI in the education sector. The paper outlines the potential effects of generative AI on the education sector including the opportunities for reducing teacher workload, risks to assessment and steps the education sector should take to protect pupil data, as well as resources, staff and pupils.

The Department is also convening experts to work with the education sector to share and identify best practice and opportunities to improve education and reduce workload.

While births in England are among the safest globally, we must do more to ensure maternity care is consistent regardless of ethnicity. To address this, Local Maternity and Neonatal Systems have begun to publish Equity and Equality Action Plans to tackle disparities in outcomes and experiences of maternity care at a local level.

NHS England have developed fourteen Maternal Medicine Networks across England, to ensure that all women with chronic and acute medical problems around pregnancy have access to specialist management and care from physicians and obstetrics, tackling the biggest contributors to maternal mortality. Knowing that black women are more likely to suffer with a pre-existing condition, they should be a key group for whom the networks provide benefit.

Further to this, the Maternity Disparities Taskforce, who last held a meeting in April, brings together experts from across the health system, government departments and the voluntary sector to explore and consider evidence-based interventions to tackle maternal disparities.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4492", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Maria Caulfield"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Lewes"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Maria Caulfield"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2023-06-05", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2023-06-05T10:38:19.227Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "17"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Health and Social Care"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Health and Social Care"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2023-05-22", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Maternal Mortality: Ethnic Groups"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps he is taking to end the Black maternal mortality gap.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4511", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Dr Rupa Huq"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Ealing Central and Acton"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Dr Rupa Huq"} ], "uin" : "186135"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1639215", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Department of Health and Social Care"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1639215/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "
