The UK is leaving the EU\u2019s customs union and single market at the end of this year, which will inevitably mean extra processes required for UK-EU trade. Most customs processes are electronic and done away from the border, including getting an EORI number and making plans for completing customs declarations, where traders will need a customs agent or their own software. Many businesses have already begun factoring in these new processes as part of their preparations for life outside the customs union and the Government urges others to do the same.<\/p>"}

I have regular discussions with my Rt hon Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the UK Government\u2019s support for jobs and businesses in Wales during the Covid-19 outbreak.<\/p>
<\/p>
Wales is benefitting directly from UK Government support to enable businesses and employees to get through the covid-19 outbreak. Our Coronavirus Business Loan Scheme has supported over 1,600 Welsh businesses; we have backed 48,000 bounce back loans; our Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) has protected over 401,000 jobs and our Self-Employed Income Support Scheme has helped over 113,000 self-employed people in Wales. The UK Government has also guaranteed £5 billion in further funding to the Welsh Government for 2020-21 to support its response to the virus.<\/p>
<\/p>
At the Spending Review 2020, the Chancellor of the Exchequer confirmed an additional £1.3 billion for the Welsh Government for 2021-22, including £770m to support the response to Covid-19. This demonstrates that we are taking the steps needed to support businesses in Wales and right across the UK.<\/p>

I have regular discussions with the First Minister of Wales and his Ministerial team on our governments\u2019 responses to Covid-19.<\/p>
<\/p>
Over the past eight months of this crisis, the UK Government and the Welsh Government have worked together co-operatively on measures to help people in Wales get through the Covid outbreak.<\/p>
<\/p>
The UK Government has guaranteed £5 billion in further funding to the Welsh Government to support its response to the virus. In addition to the extra funding our Coronavirus Business Loan Scheme has supported over 1,600 Welsh businesses, our Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) has protected over 401,000 jobs, our Self-Employed Income Support Scheme has helped over 108,000 self-employed people and we have backed 48,000 bounce back loans.<\/p>

The Chancellor has announced a host of measures to help businesses across the UK through the crisis, including £330bn worth of loans and the Job Retention Scheme (JRS) to help businesses retain their employees. I positively engage with businesses in Wales via regular meetings, literature and phone calls organised by my Department. I regularly meet with business stakeholders at roundtables, seminars, fairs and other such events and have restructured my department to ensure we put stakeholders at the heart of everything we do and are responsive to their interests and needs.
