Sanctions are proving effective. They have sent Russia into recession, significantly degrading the building blocks for Russia's long-term growth and Putin's ability to fund his war machine. Russia's budget is in deficit and by March it had already spent 81 per cent of its forecast GDP deficit in 2023. Russia is now cut off from Western financial markets and service sectors, constraining growth and productivity. By sanctioning products found on the battlefield, Russia is forced to source lower quality substitutes elsewhere, where they are often less capable and liable to failure. We continue monitor the effectiveness of all of our sanctions.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4531", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Anne-Marie Trevelyan"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Berwick-upon-Tweed"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Anne-Marie Trevelyan"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2023-05-04", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2023-05-04T16:29:06.63Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "208"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2023-04-25", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Russia: Sanctions"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what recent assessment he has made of the effectiveness of UK sanctions against Russia.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4131", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Jim Shannon"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Strangford"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Jim Shannon"} ], "uin" : "182555"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1623607", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1623607/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

The Artificial Intelligence in Health and Care Award has provided £123 million to 86 artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. The Award was created to accelerate the testing and evaluation of some of the most promising AI technologies that can support clinicians in stroke diagnosis, cancer screening and managing conditions at home.

Some of these technologies being tested could support clinicians in diagnosing and treating heart disease. For example, iRhythm's Zio uses AI to help diagnose abnormal or irregular heart rhythms more quickly. Results from this trial are expected to be published in September 2023.

Caristo’s CaRi-Heart uses AI to analyse CT scans to detect inflammation in the heart and predict a patient’s risk from a heart attack. This could help clinicians identify more people with cardiovascular disease and provide preventative treatments sooner. Results from this trial are expected to be published before the end of 2023.

Ultromics’ EchGo uses AI to help analyse images of the heart, which could diagnose heart failure and coronary artery disease earlier and faster. Results from this trial are expected to be published early next year.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4527", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Helen Whately"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Faversham and Mid Kent"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Helen Whately"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2023-05-09", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2023-05-09T15:02:21.57Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "17"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Health and Social Care"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Health and Social Care"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2023-04-25", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Heart Diseases: Artificial Intelligence"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will make an estimate of when an artificial intelligence programme for the detection of heart disease will be widely available on the NHS.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4131", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Jim Shannon"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Strangford"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Jim Shannon"} ], "uin" : "182557"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1623609", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Department of Health and Social Care"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1623609/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "
There is no current plan to increase the age of sale of tobacco to 21 years old. Our assessment is that an increase in the age of sale would be a major departure from the policy pursued over recent decades, which has emphasised personal responsibility and help for people to quit.

On vaping, there are no current plans to increase the age of sale. However, we have recently launched a call for evidence which will help us to further assess options to reduce youth vaping.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4679", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Neil O'Brien"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Harborough"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Neil O'Brien"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2023-05-03", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2023-05-03T11:28:37.673Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "17"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Health and Social Care"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Health and Social Care"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2023-04-25", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Electronic Cigarettes: Children and Young People"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment he has made of the potential merits of making it illegal for people under the age of 21 to buy cigarettes and vaping devices.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4131", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Jim Shannon"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Strangford"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Jim Shannon"} ], "uin" : "182558"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1623610", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Department of Health and Social Care"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1623610/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "
