When the Government receives the Great Manchester Clean Air Plan, it will be able to assess its proposals. We have committed £495 million for local authorities to implement and mitigate their plans.<\/p>

In addition to the £88.9 million invested in new greener buses via the Green Bus Scheme, including £19.6 million for Manchester, and a further £41 million invested in low emission buses via the Low Emission Bus Scheme, we have committed an additional £48 million for the Ultra-Low Emission Bus Scheme. The Government sees the risk of landlords circumventing this legislation by acquiring bed and breakfast (B&B) accommodation as low and is unaware of any cases of it. It is not unlawful for landlords to change from being an HMO landlord to a B&B provider. Landlords would simply be changing from one arrangement to another, and would have to abide by the appropriate framework accordingly.<\/p>
A small number of landlords who are rogue or criminal, knowingly rent out unsafe and substandard accommodation, including outbuildings. This is not specific to HMO regulation, but a wider issue about substandard accommodation upon which we are determined to crackdown.<\/p>
The Housing & Planning Act 2016 introduced a range of measures to deal with such landlords and they were implemented in 2017. Measures include: banning orders for the most serious and prolific offenders; civil penalties of up to £30,000 as an alternative to prosecution; and extension of Rent Repayment Orders to cover illegal eviction, breach of a banning order or failure to comply with a statutory notice.<\/p>"}

The UK has a proud history of providing protection to those who need it and this Government is committed to delivering a fair and humane asylum system.<\/p>
Whilst the Government has not made such an estimate, our current policy is consistent with EU law and permits asylum seekers to work, in jobs on the Shortage Occupation List, if they have been waiting for a decision on their claim for 12 months or more and the delay is through no fault of their own. We are tackling delays in decision-making and have plans in place to improve the speed at which outstanding claims are decided.<\/p>
If an asylum seeker would otherwise be destitute they are provided with free accommodation and a cash allowance of £37.75 per week to cover their other essential living needs.<\/p>
It is important to focus on providing support for those who are recognised as refugees, to help them to integrate and find employment, so that they can rebuild their lives here.<\/p>"}

The National Fund was set up by a trust deed in 1928. The Fund is held on trust for the purpose of reducing the National Debt. According to expert evidence, there is no realistic prospect of the Fund ever amounting to a sum sufficient to pay off the whole of the National Debt. On 22nd<\/sup> May 2018 the former Attorney General made an application to the High Court to vary the terms of the charitable trust.<\/p>While we expect the substantive hearing to take place in 2019, we have not yet received a hearing date from the High Court.<\/p>"}
