My Rt. hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Health is committed to ensuring that patients with mental health conditions can receive treatment as close as possible to where they live. Inappropriate out of area placements are unacceptable and the Government has set a target to eliminate these in non-specialist, acute mental health care by 2020/21.<\/p>
<\/p>
To support the delivery of this ambition, in October 2016 the Government put in place the first data collection to secure much-needed national transparency on the number of patients that are sent out of their local area for acute inpatient treatment.<\/p>
<\/p>
NHS England is using this new data to support local health systems to develop and deliver trajectories to eliminate inappropriate out of area placements.<\/p>
<\/p>
More than £400 million which has been made available for investment in mental health crisis resolution home treatment teams over the next four years, enabling them to provide 24/7 crisis response and intensive home treatment as a genuine alternative to admission where appropriate.<\/p>
<\/p>
Shared learning and best-practice advice on reducing out of area placements through improved system capacity management will be included in acute care commissioning guidance.<\/p>"}

The Government's manifesto re-affirms the commitment to deliver equal and updated boundaries and reduce the size of the House of Commons.<\/p>
<\/strong><\/p>Following laws already passed by Parliament that set out the date of the electoral register to be used at boundary reviews, and provide that the current Boundary Review should be based on the electoral registers from 2015, the independent and impartial Boundary Commissions are consulting on their proposals to deliver the boundary changes, and they will submit their final proposals to Parliament in autumn 2018. These reforms will ensure fair and equal representation for the voting public across the United Kingdom.<\/p>
<\/p>
Equalising the size of constituencies in the Boundary Review will ensure everyone\u2019s vote will carry equal weight. Without such boundary reforms, MPs could end up representing constituencies based on data that is over 20 years\u2019 old, disregarding significant changes in demographics, house building and migration.<\/p>

In line with its manifesto commitment, the Government intends to legislate to ensure that a form of identification must be presented before voting. It is intended that this requirement be tested through pilot schemes at the May 2018 elections. Pilots will help to identify the best way of administering this new requirement.<\/p>
<\/strong><\/p>The Government is continuing to work with the Law Commission on how best to implement the recommendations of their review of electoral law in collaboration with other stakeholders. We will respond to their report in due course.<\/p>
