There is not an overall shortage of the adjuvanted trivalent flu (aTIV) for the season. To enable adequate supply of the aTIV to be available in 2018-19, deliveries have had to be phased and this means that patients may need to wait a few weeks to get vaccination. Improving secondary performance is at the core of the programme, and we expect this to be reflected in the way that resources are allocated to have the impact we want to see. We recognise that there are some areas within the North East that feel the challenges we have set out particularly acutely, evidenced across a range of indicators including: the areas identified in the bottom two sextiles using the Achieving Excellence Areas methodology, educational performance at key stage 4, and the proportion of secondary aged pupils that are able to attend Good or Outstanding schools. Within the context of a pan regional programme, it is important that we ensure that those areas benefit appropriately from this programme.<\/p>
