The Gambling Commission\u2019s recent findings highlight one of the key differences between the National Lottery and society lotteries with the National Lottery characterised by high life-changing prizes and society lotteries characterised by smaller prizes and linked to a dedicated charity or good cause such as a local hospice or air ambulance. We are currently consulting on potential changes to society lottery sales and prize limits and will consider the Gambling Commission\u2019s findings as part of our response. Any revision to the eCommerce Directive is the sole initiative of the European Commission. We are not aware of any plans to revise this Directive at this point. The UK is subject to EU law whilst it remains a Member State of the European Union.<\/p>

During the implementation period agreed as part of the Withdrawal Agreement, the UK will no longer be a Member State yet to give businesses and citizens certainty, common rules will remain in place until the end of the period meaning businesses will be able to trade on the same terms as now up until the end of 2020.
