Leaving the EU presents a major opportunity for UK agricultural and fisheries sectors. There will be opportunities to build on our world-leading reputation of quality and standards. We are focused on making sure all of our policies deliver for the UK, grow our world-leading food and farming industry, and improve our environment. In 2016, 60 per cent of UK food, feed and drink exports were to countries in the EU, whilst 70 per cent of UK imports of food, feed and drink during the same period were from the EU. This underlines the UK\u2019s and EU\u2019s mutual interest in continuing high levels of market access in future.<\/p>
The Department for Exiting the European Union, working with officials across Government, is in the process of carrying out a programme of rigorous and extensive analytical work that will contribute to our exit negotiations with the EU, to define our future partnership with the EU, and to inform our understanding of how EU exit will affect the UK\u2019s domestic policies and frameworks.

The Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union has regular discussions with Cabinet colleagues on matters relating to the UK exiting the European Union. As the Prime Minister set out in her speech, one of the objectives for the negotiations ahead is to continue practical cooperation with the EU to tackle cross-border crime and to keep our people safe. We want to agree a deep and special partnership taking in both economic and security cooperation to fight terrorism and uphold justice across Europe. The safety of the British public is a top priority and security is enhanced through cooperating with Europe.<\/p>
As part of the negotiations, we will discuss with the EU and Member States how best to continue cooperation on a range of issues, including Europol and Eurojust.<\/p>
The Home Office lead on UK passport policy. Of course, the Department for Exiting the European Union is working closely with Home Office. Parliament will be informed of any changes to the passport following UK withdrawal from the European Union.<\/p> <\/p>"}
