The Act places duties on local authorities to intervene at earlier stages to prevent homelessness in their areas. It also requires local authorities to provide new homelessness services to all those affected, not just those who are protected under existing legislation.<\/p>

The Government responded to the Grenfell Tower fire by setting up an independent panel of experts, who established that the immediate priority was to identify the scale of use of Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) type cladding on buildings over 18 metres.
