The information requested could be provided only at disproportionate cost as central records are not kept for all aspects of the management of prisoners sentenced to an indeterminate sentence of Imprisonment for Public Protection (IPP).

HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and the Parole Board will continue to work together to improve the progression of IPP prisoners. This group continue to achieve release in high numbers, with 576 first time IPP releases in 2016, the highest figure since the sentence was introduced.

HMPPS will continue to invest in interventions to assist prisoners to both reduce their risk and demonstrate such progression to the Parole Board. However, it is important to remember that it is not mandatory for IPPs to complete accredited offending behaviour programmes in order to achieve release. Completing an accredited offending behaviour programme is one way in which IPP prisoners may demonstrate that they have reduced their risk of harm and reoffending; other options may include work and employment, education and one to one work with psychologists or prison offender supervisors.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4538", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Lord Keen of Elie"} } , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Lord Keen of Elie"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2017-07-18", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2017-07-18T16:25:18.32Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "54"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Justice"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Justice"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2017-07-04", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "2"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25277", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Lords"} } ], "questionText" : "Her Majesty's Government during the last 12 months, how many prisoners sentenced to an indeterminate sentence of Imprisonment for Public Protection were (1) offered places on a training course which could lead to their release, (2) were released following completion of such training courses, and (3) refused to take up a place or dropped out of such courses; and how those figures compare with those for the preceding 12 month period.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/547", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Lord Wigley"} } , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Lord Wigley"} ], "uin" : "HL479"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/748033", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Ministry of Justice"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/748033/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

Anyone who wishes to undertake a search of the probate registry papers, or to obtain copies of a Will or grant of probate, may make an application to the relevant Probate Registry. The Government is committed to making sure that victims of terrorism and bereaved families receive the best possible support both in the immediate aftermath, and in the long term. The appalling attacks in Manchester and London, just as previous attacks such as in Sousse, Tunisia, demonstrate how vital it is that support is available to victims and their families.

In 2017, we established a cross-HMG Victims of Terrorism unit to co-ordinate support to UK citizens directly affected by terrorist events at home or overseas. It is working across Government, the voluntary sector and with local authorities to ensure that support to victims of terrorism is comprehensive, coordinated and clearly communicated.

We have developed gov.uk webpages

(see https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/terror-attacks-support-for-people-affected) to provide comprehensive advice to victims and to signpost them to support services in the UK. We have also been working closely with local authorities to highlight the support available, and will make sure that payments from the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund and the UK Solidarity Fund do not affect benefits payments.
"}
