However, we recognise that these refugee populations need UNRWA to be on a more secure financial footing. To that end, the UK is working with UNRWA and other donors to help ensure its sustainability. This includes finding further cost savings reforms, diversifying donor income, and encouraging multi-year funding commitments. The UK is a leading donor to UNRWA and we plan to provide up to £80m to UNRWA overall over the next two years. However, a long-term solution requires a just, fair, agreed and realistic settlement for Palestinian refugees. Until that happens the UK remains firmly committed to supporting UNRWA and Palestinian refugees.<\/p>"}

They are being supported by UN agencies, international and local NGOs. The Secretary of State approved an allocation of £4 million from the humanitarian reserve. A plane load of shelter materials landed in Maputo today in response to an initial request. We will continue to work closely with the Government and partners to identify further needs.<\/p>"}

      ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1088717/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "<p>The Secretary of State has not received any direct representations on the selection process for the position of President of the World Bank.<\/p><p>HM Government has communicated to other Board members its support for an open, merit-based and transparent process for selecting the next President of the World Bank Group (WBG).<\/p><p>There are no nationality requirements for the role of President and the Secretary of State has not had any discussions with World Bank Group shareholders about choosing the President of the World Bank based on nationality.<\/p><p>The World Bank Executive Director\u2019s agreed on 9 January an open, merit-based, and transparent process, in which any Board member was free to nominate candidates by 14 March. A single candidate was formally nominated, and the Executive Directors will interview this candidate. HM Government considers that, to empower Board members to make decisions primarily on the basis of the merits of the candidate, individual votes should not be disclosed.<\/p>"}
