The UK government has been at the forefront of assessing the link between climate change and migration. In 2011, UK Government Office for Science published the Foresight report on Migration and Global Environmental Change, which used cutting-edge science to assess how environmental changes such as flooding, drought and rising sea levels may influence global human migration. The government continues to assess emerging science and evidence in this area.<\/p>
The UK is a leader in ambitious climate action and delivering success at COP26 is the government\u2019s top international priority. We were the first major economy to legislate for net zero emissions by 2050 and we are committed to helping communities adapt to the impacts of climate change that are already happening, particularly in the most vulnerable countries. Following the UK\u2019s calls for international action, an EU sponsored independent review of Palestinian textbooks is currently underway. The EU has contracted the Georg Eckert Institute, a specialist textbook analysis centre, to lead this review.<\/p>
To ensure the review could begin immediately on the signing of the contract, the UK commissioned the Georg Eckert Institute to produce an inception report to establish its methodology in advance.<\/p>
We understand from the EU that an interim report covering grade 8 \u2013 10 books will be completed in Spring 2020, with the full report covering all the books due later in the year. The UK Government recognises that older people experience a range of complex barriers in developing countries around the globe.<\/p>
DFID\u2019s vision is a world where all people, in all stages of their lives, are engaged, empowered and able to exercise their rights. Ageing is an important factor in our efforts to tackle extreme poverty, ensure inclusion and in our approach to \u2018leave no-one behind\u2019. For example, DFID\u2019s Disability Inclusion Strategy and Strategic Vision for Gender Equality take a life-course approach, ensuring the delivery of transformative change for people all ages.<\/p>
We are also supporting governments to make vital social protection systems more inclusive of older people. In Uganda, DFID continues to build on its partnership with the Government of Uganda to deliver a Senior Citizen Grant.
