We are committed to working across government to take robust action to better safeguard children from all forms of child sexual abuse, including online grooming, and to ensure victims and survivors receive appropriate care and support while perpetrators face the full force of the law.<\/p>
The Home Office funds a network of Undercover Online Officers (UCOLs) in Regional Organised Crime Units who deploy online to identify and pursue offenders seeking to groom or otherwise sexually abuse children.<\/p>
Through the Online Safety Act, for the first time, tech companies will be held accountable to an independent regulator to keep their users safe. All in scope companies will need to take action to prevent the use of their services for criminal activity. Child sexual exploitation and abuse is categorised as priority illegal content, which includes grooming. The Home Office regularly publishes statistics on the returns of foreign national offenders by nationality and year. These returns are published in the Returns Detailed Datasets, Year Ending June 2024, which are available at: Immigration system statistics data tables - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)<\/p>
The published statistics refer to enforced returns which include deportations, as well as cases where a person has breached UK immigration laws, and those removed under other administrative and illegal entry powers that have declined to leave voluntarily.<\/p>
Figures on deportations, which are a subset of enforced returns, are not separately available.<\/p>
We are committed to delivering justice for victims and safer streets for our communities. Foreign nationals who commit crime should be in no doubt that the law will be enforced and, where appropriate, we will pursue their deportation and they will be swiftly removed from the country.<\/p>
