Pleasingly, levels of reporting have gone up. This may be in part be due to improvements in recording practices, but also because victims and survivors are more comfortable in coming forward.<\/p>

The aim is to make the right decision as early as possible in the claim journey. We are constantly looking to improve our processes and learn from tribunal outcomes. We have made improvements to our decision-making process to ensure that we not only gather all material evidence as early as possible but more that we carefully consider that evidence so that we identify the key facts that inform the decision made. Tribunals are independent and in considering the same evidence directly with the claimant, may obtain a different perspective and thereby reach a different conclusion.<\/p>
<\/p>
In relation to Child Maintenance decision making there is an accuracy strategy which has consistently delivered low levels of error (less than 1% of monetary value) as reported by NAO. This is aided by a proactive approach at the Mandatory Reconsideration stage where both parties are invited to submit further evidence, to help ensure we make the right decision.<\/p>
We will continue to make improvements to our decision-making processes to help ensure that more people get the correct decision earlier in their claim journey.<\/p>"}

There are a number of different types of pensions that veterans may be able to receive depending on their personal circumstances (their age, their health and when they left the services etc). How these are treated in the benefit system will depend on the type of pension being paid and the DWP benefit they are in receipt of. DWP is committed to the Armed Forces Covenant which ensures that veterans are not subject to any disadvantage as a result of their service.<\/p>"}

For 2021/22, a total of £434m worth of deductions were made for the Removal of the Spare Room Subsidy (RSRS) in Great Britain. This includes households on Universal Credit and Housing Benefit. No wider assessment has been made.<\/p>
<\/p>
The RSRS policy allows for the provision of an additional bedroom in certain circumstances such as disabled people and carers, foster carers, and parents of service personnel. Additionally, those in receipt of pension age housing benefit are exempt.<\/p>
<\/p>
Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP\u2019s) are available for those who need additional support with housing costs. Since 2011 we have provided almost £1.5billion in DHP\u2019s to local authorities.<\/p>
<\/p>
The Government announced over £37bn of cost of living support earlier this year which includes an extension to the Household Support Fund backed by £421m, running from 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2023. This is in addition to the energy bill support announced in September.<\/p>"}

The Secretary of State reviews Local Housing Allowance rates annually.<\/p>
In April 2020 Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rates were increased to the 30th percentile of local rents. This investment of nearly £1 billion provided 1.5 million claimants with an average £600 more housing support in 2020/21 than they would otherwise have received.<\/p>
LHA rates have been maintained at their increased levels since then, so that everyone who benefitted from the increase will continue to do so.<\/p>
For those who require additional support with housing costs, Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP) are available from local authorities.\u202fSince 2011 we have provided almost £1.5 billion in DHPs.<\/p>"}
