The Government recognises the importance of improving access to pools however the responsibility primarily lies at Local Authorities level. Swimming is a crucial life skill, as well as a great way to stay fit, and I encourage Local Authorities to invest in swimming facilities.<\/p>

The Department for Transport has in place a national monitoring and evaluation programme for the e-scooter trials, commissioned to Arup in partnership with NatCen. This is a mixed-methods impact evaluation drawing from a wide range of data sources, including a direct data feed from trial e-scooter operators, survey data with e-scooter users and trial areas residents, and qualitative research with local and national stakeholders. As part of this evaluation, we are collecting evidence on miles travelled on rental e-scooters, as well as mode shift from car and public transport. Findings from the evaluation will be published in the Spring.<\/p>

From the period from July 2020 to the end of December 2021, over 19.5 million miles have been travelled in total across the rental trials.<\/p>
