The Homelessness Reduction Act, which came into force on April 3 2018, requires housing authorities to work with those threatened with homelessness within 56 days to try and prevent them becoming homeless. This includes someone subject to a valid Section 21 notice for eviction. The Act also requires housing authorities to take into account the specific needs of people suffering from mental illness or impairment when designing advice and information services. The Government is committed to reviewing the implementation and resourcing of the Act within two years of its commencement.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4057", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Nigel Adams"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Selby and Ainsty"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Nigel Adams"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2018-07-24", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2018-07-24T14:57:02.117Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "7"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Housing, Communities and Local Government"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Housing, Communities and Local Government"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2018-07-19", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Tenants: Evictions"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, if he will make an assessment of the adequacy of the obligation local authorities to give due care and support to tenants who are to be evicted, including those with known mental ill-health.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1538", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Rosie Cooper"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "West Lancashire"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Rosie Cooper"} ], "uin" : "166109"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/856972", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/856972/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

Every local area is required to have a multi-agency suicide prevention plan in place to implement tailored approaches to reducing suicides in their communities. We expect multi-agency groups to include all relevant organisations and professionals who may come into contact with someone at risk of suicide such as social care services and social workers. Guidance published by Public Health England on developing suicide prevention plans, Local suicide prevention planning: A practice resource, sets out how local data collections are important in developing effective action plans to reduce suicides and that data should be collected across a wide range of services including social care: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/suicide-prevention-developing-a-local-action-plan

The Government launched the Mental Health Crisis Care Concordat in 2014 which has been signed by a wide range of organisations including the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, Association of Directors of Children’s Services and the College of Social Work.
