Operation Skybreaker is a pilot approach to encourage greater compliance with the immigration rules in 10 pilot areas. Home Office Immigration Enforcement has intensified its local partnership engagement and sought to assist local businesses on how to conduct right to work checks on their employees.<\/p>
The aim of the pilot approach is to test new ways of working and identify how best to reduce illegal immigration, which is bad for both British citizens and those who have come to this country legally.
This is a routine, local, operational matter and significant engagement has been undertaken with those involved in partnership working and the communities.<\/p>

Operation Skybreaker is predominantly based on standard Immigration Enforcement operation procedures. Where new approaches have been adopted, additional guidance has been issued to officers on employer compliance visits. The guidance covers the purpose and aims of such visits, powers of entry, risks, actions to take place during the visit, what officers are not authorised to do and the recording of information post-visit. Our aim this year is to ensure all claims made before April 2014 have an asylum decision by 31 March 2015. Furthermore, we are endeavouring to ensure all new claims received since 1st April 2014 get a decision within the 6 months service standard.
We are raising our decision-maker productivity targets in order to deal with rising intake, and we are continually recruiting new caseworkers to maintain appropriate staffing levels and to support our aim to get within service standards by the end of the 2014/2015 period.<\/p>
