Everyone in the UK should have the opportunity to progress and fulfil their potential in employment, to benefit both the individual and the wider economy. Despite accounting for just under half of all employees in the UK, women are more likely to be in low paid work than men.<\/p>
The Government has an aspiration to end low pay, and next year it will set out the Low Pay Commission\u2019s remit from 2020 onwards.<\/p>
The National Living Wage (NLW) benefits a higher proportion of women than men. In April 2019, the NLW will increase by 4.9% to £8.21. This is an increase to a full-time minimum wage worker\u2019s annual earnings of over £690, making progress on the government\u2019s objective for the NLW to reach 60% of median earnings by 2020.<\/p>
We will be publishing a strategy in the Spring on gender equality and economic empowerment that will include consideration of how we can best support low paid women.<\/p>

Border Force constantly review their maritime capabilities and currently have two coastal patrol vessels and one cutter available for the English Channel. In light of recent events they have stepped up deployments along the South-East coast.<\/p>

Making sure that young people and parents or carers can give informed consent is an important aspect of the work undertaken when young people request a physical intervention for gender dysphoria. NHS England has published a service specification \u2018NHS Standard Contract for Gender Identity Development Service For Children And Adolescents\u2019 which refers throughout to the input of parents/carers and families. For young people of 16 and under, consent to treatment should usually be sought from the child and from one or both parents, except under exceptional circumstances. For adolescents over 16, if it is concluded that they have sufficient understanding of what is to be offered (this is known as \u2018Gillick\u2019 or \u2018Fraser\u2019 competence), they may give their own consent to treatment, although under most circumstances, it is good practice to seek parental assent too. Domestic wood and coal burning are the single largest contributors to our harmful particulate matter (PM) emissions. These sources accounted for 38% of total PM2.5 emissions in 2015 and are forecast to account for 41% by 2020.<\/p>

The draft Clean Air Strategy, which we consulted on earlier this year, included plans to introduce legislation in England to phase out the most polluting domestic fuels. It also included plans to ensure that European Ecodesign standards for stoves will continue to be met, ensuring that only the cleanest stoves will be available to buy and install; and proposals for further powers for local Government in areas with an air pollution problem.<\/p>

Steps to tackle National Health Service prescription fraud include the introduction of Real Time Exemption Checking (RTEC) technology, which will enable pharmacies to confirm a person\u2019s eligibility for free NHS prescriptions, prior to dispensing their prescription items. RTEC is due to be piloted in 2019. Prior to the introduction of RTEC, prescription exemption checking is being undertaken retrospectively by the NHS Business Services Authority.<\/p>

The national \u2018Check Before You Tick\u2019 communications campaign is also live, encouraging people to check whether they are entitled to free NHS prescriptions before claiming them.
