star this property answer text <p>We welcome the overall widening of media freedom under this Burmese government. However, we are deeply concerned by the intimidation, detention and sentencing of several reporters in Burma in recent months, which contrary to the longer positive trend is further restricting Burma's media environment.</p><p>Our Ambassador has raised our concerns about the detention of journalists with Deputy Minister of Information Ye Htut, and the cases of the five journalists sentenced to 10 years hard labour were also discussed during the first EU-Burma Human Rights Dialogue in May. We will continue to raise the issue of media freedom in discussions with the Burmese government and in international fora.</p> more like this

We have called publicly for the Iranian government to release him and to end all persecution of individuals on the basis of their faith. star this property answer text <p>We regularly raise our concerns with the Government of Sudan about religious persecutions and the need to respect freedom of religion or belief for all its citizens. My officials have recently made representations to the Foreign Minister, urging the Government to respect the right to freedom of religion or belief including one's right to follow the religion or belief of choice. This right is enshrined in international human rights law as well as in Sudan's own 2005 Interim Constitution. We will continue to raise these issues.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We have repeatedly expressed our concern at the treatment of the Baha'i community in Iran, including the sentencing of seven Baha'i leaders in Iran to 20 years imprisonment and the regular harassment the community suffers from. We raised the treatment of Baha'is with the UN Special Rapporteur at the UN Human Rights Council in March 2014, and in our contacts with the Iranian authorities. We will continue to call on the Iranian government to ensure that all its citizens are able to exercise their right to freedom of religion, free from persecution and harassment.</p><p> </p> more like this
