All higher education providers in the UK must meet rigorous national quality requirements for higher education. The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) measures excellence in addition to these requirements and is voluntary; therefore all participating providers received at least a Bronze award. As TEF is voluntary, if a provider has no TEF award this does not necessarily signify a lack of quality, as it may have decided not to take part.
