answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/05/2023 answer text <p>The British High Commission in Islamabad is responsible for operational decision-making in relation to managing the accommodation and other support provided to those in Pakistan.</p><p> </p><p>The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is responsible for supporting the movement of eligible persons out of Afghanistan and into third countries, assessing eligibility of applications under ARAP, and referring eligible persons with a Defence connection to charitable partners for Operation NEWHOPE support.</p><p> </p><p>ARAP eligible individuals are provided with accommodation, food, medical treatment, and dedicated support from a team of MOD &amp; FCDO caseworkers in Pakistan while they await relocation to the UK. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/05/2023 answer text <p>The latest <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/immigration-system-statistics-year-ending-december-2022" target="_blank">Immigration System Statistics, year ending December 2022</a>, published on 23 February, show that since their first arrivals in 2021, the ACRS and the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) have resettled a total of 21,387 people.</p><p> </p><p>They also show that over 9,000 people have now been supported into settled accommodation (This breaks down as c.8,500 moved into homes with an additional c.500 matched but not yet moved). The figures are not currently broken down into ACRS/ARAP individuals or families.</p><p> </p><p>The government is providing £285 million of new funding to local authorities supporting the Afghan resettlement schemes. This includes £35 million which will go towards increasing the level of support available as well as a £250 million expansion of the Local Authority Housing Fund to help councils to source homes for Afghans currently in bridging accommodation.</p><p>This new, generous package of support comes in addition to the existing support available for people on the ACRS and ARAP schemes, including access to welfare system, the right to work and full access to public services.</p><p>The move from hotels into settled accommodation is in the best interests of families and individuals and will enable them to benefit from the freedoms of independent living that only suitable non-hotel accommodation can provide.</p> answering member constituency Newark answering member printed Robert Jenrick question first answered 25/05/2023 10:16:11 answering member 4320 label Biography information for Robert Jenrick

For zoonotic diseases, we have systems in place to detect and manage outbreaks, for both endemic (those that are already found in the UK) and exotic infections, collaborating closely with the public health agencies.</p><p> </p><p>There are several pathogens of animals which can potentially spread to humans as a result of the close interactions between humans and animals on farm, including Salmonella and Mycobacterium bovis, but incidents of this nature are rare. Nevertheless, we take biosecurity and protection of public health very seriously.</p><p> </p><p>Employers are required by law to prevent ill health to workers that may occur as a result of their business activities. Employers should undertake a risk assessment to help decide what actions they need to take to do this. The Health and Safety Executive regulates this.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is committed to the strongest possible standards of protection against animal diseases including zoonotic pathogens. It is investing £1.4 million (including £200 million in this Spending Review period) to secure the long-term future of the Animal and Plant Health Agency Weybridge facility. Since 2015, we have offered a place to just under half a million men, women and children seeking safety in the UK using our global and country specific routes.</p><p>The UK continues to welcome refugees through our existing resettlement schemes which include the global UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS), Community Sponsorship and the Mandate Resettlement Scheme. The UK is proud to have welcomed Sudanese nationals through both our UK Resettlement Scheme and Community Sponsorship in 2021 and 2022.</p><p>While our safe and legal routes are some of the most generous anywhere, we cannot accommodate everyone who wants to come to the UK, and we are not able to open a bespoke route for every situation.
