The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) does not specify the criteria, as the local authority is best placed to determine what the needs of their area are. The existing policies already provide a high bar, however this government remains committed to deliver the manifesto commitment to provide stronger protections for our ancient woodland. My Department are liaising with DEFRA, HMT and other stakeholders. The law is clear that households with dependent children should only be accommodated in B&amp;B in an emergency and then for no longer than 6 weeks</p><p>Our new Homelessness Advice and Support Team, drawn from local authorities and the homelessness sector, is providing support to local authorities to help them address their homelessness challenges, including the use of B&amp;B accommodation for families.</p><p>We are taking unprecedented action to change how we tackle homelessness and rough sleeping. That is why this Government has committed to halving rough sleeping by 2022 and eliminating it altogether by 2027. A new Rough Sleeping and Homelessness Reduction Taskforce is bringing together relevant ministers from across Government, and will drive forward the implementation of a cross-Government strategy to tackle this issue. We will ban unfair letting fees and cap tenancy deposits to ensure that renters have more money in their pockets.</p><p>The single most important thing we can do to tackle affordability is to increase supply. That is why we have delivered over 346,000 new affordable homes since 2010, including 248,000 affordable homes for rent. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/03/2018 answer text <p>The Social Housing Green Paper will be a wide-ranging review of social housing in England.</p><p>Building more affordable homes is an absolute priority for this Government, and we have. announced an additional £2 billion funding for affordable housing in areas of acute affordability pressure, increasing our budget to over £9 billion for a range of affordable homes, including for social rent. As part of this funding, at Spring Statement the Chancellor announced an extra £1.67 billion for an additional 26,000 more affordable homes in London and we made it a condition that some must be social rent. Since the reinvigoration of Right to Buy increased maximum discounts to realistic levels in 2012, over 80,000 tenants have been enabled to buy their homes.</p><p>In addition, last October the Prime Minister announced an extra £2 billion funding for affordable housing, including social rent homes, in addition to the £1.4 billion announced at the Autumn Statement 2016. This has increased the Governments Affordable Housing Programme 2016-21 Budget to more than £9 billion, which will deliver many more affordable homes by March 2021. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/03/2018 answer text <p>The short-term supported housing funding model will ensure that the housing costs for people living in refuges and other forms of short-term supported housing will be met by a grant fund administered by local authorities.</p><p>The same amount of funding as would have been available through Housing Benefit in 2020/21 will be made available as grant instead, and will directly fund bed spaces. The overall grant fund, including funding for refuges, will be ring-fenced indefinitely. Everyone who would be eligible under the current system to have their housing costs met by housing benefit will continue to have their housing costs met through the short-term funding model and no refuge should worry about closing or have any doubts over our commitment to ensure a sustainable funding model for them.</p><p>We are continuing to listen to the sector and are considering feedback through the recent consultation which closed on 23 January, and includes sector comments on the effect of the model on the number of and services women’s refuges in England. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/06/2018 answer text <p>This government remains clear that one person without a home is one too many and we are committed to preventing and reducing homelessness and rough sleeping.</p><p>As well as allocating over £1.2 billion to tackle all forms of homelessness over the spending review period, the government has also taken forward a number of important actions to specifically prevent and reduce the levels of youth homelessness.</p><p>The Homelessness Reduction Act, which came into force in April this year, bolsters the support offer for families, care leavers and 16-17 year olds by ensuring that there are more opportunities for local authorities to put in place bespoke interventions to either prevent homelessness from happening in the first place, or relieve them from a homelessness crisis where it does occur.</p><p>Alongside legislative changes, we have also published revised guidance to make clear the respective duties of children’s services and housing services to secure or provide accommodation for 16 and 17 year old children who are homeless or in need of accommodation.</p><p>In addition, the government’s rough sleeping strategy, which will set out how the government will meet its manifesto commitments of halving rough sleeping by 2022, and ending it by 2027, will include specific action around tackling youth homelessness.
