star this property answer text <p>The UK is defended by an integrated air defence system that includes Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon aircraft held at continuous readiness, 24 hours a day, and air surveillance and control facilities that are fully interoperable with NATO allies. Additionally, ground based air defence is provided by Army Air Defence Regiments and Royal Navy Type 45 Destroyers have an air defence capability.</p><p>The Ministry of Defence keeps its equipment requirements under continuous review to ensure it can react to the evolving defence environment.</p> more like this

The first assessment was derived from three independent studies, conducted in parallel, by market analysts from the Ministry of Defence (MOD), the UK Defence Solutions Centre and an independent consultancy firm. Supporting evidence from this first assessment was then further refined in an assessment carried out by the Department for International Trade and the MOD. Under current plans their expected out of service dates are 2020 and 2026 respectively.</p><p>The Future Force GBAD Air Surveillance programme seeks to provide our future suite of capabilities and will ensure there is no capability gap.</p> more like this
