star this property answer text <p>The Department for Work and Pensions has no plans to publish a response to the report by the Trussell Trust on Hunger in the UK. However, we continue to monitor new research and evidence produced by external organisations.</p><p> </p><p>Government takes the issue of food security seriously, which is why we added internationally used food security questions to the Family Resources Survey in 2019/20. These questions remain in the survey and will allow us to track food security over time</p><p> </p><p>Building on the food insecurity data which this Government first published in 2019/20, we have published official estimates of foodbank use for the first time. These will, alongside the broad suite of poverty data, help the Government to understand more about the characteristics of people most in need and help shape future policy considerations.</p><p> </p><p>We will continue to work across Government to support the most vulnerable.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p /> <p>The decision to temporarily halt a jobseeker’s benefit payment is always thoroughly considered and is not something we do lightly.</p><p> </p><p>It is a consequence of a jobseeker not meeting the conditions attached to receiving their benefits without good reason.</p><p> </p><p>Jobseekers are only ever asked to meet reasonable requirements, taking into account their circumstances and capability. The requirements and consequences are clearly communicated with them throughout their claim and set out in their Claimant Commitment.</p><p> </p><p>The vast majority of jobseekers fulfil their requirements and do not receive a sanction.</p> more like this

All claimants are informed of the responsibilities they must fulfil in order to receive benefit, and the consequences of failing to comply. This is done in discussions with work coaches and through the Claimant Commitment.</p><p> </p><p>Where it appears a claimant has failed to comply with a particular requirement and the case is being referred to a decision maker, the claimant is asked to provide information they wish to be taken into account, including their reasons for non-compliance, before the imposition of a sanction.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Anyone who disagrees with a sanction has the right to appeal.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Department for Work and Pensions supports its staff in developing the skills required to identify and effectively support claimants with mental health conditions. A number of learning products such as ‘Introduction to Working with People with a Mental Health Condition’ and ‘Supporting Customers with a Vulnerability’ have been specifically developed to build capability for Jobcentre staff. Jobcentre staff also promote “Disability Confident” which is an initiative that includes working with employers to show that employing disabled people, including those with mental health conditions, is good for the individual, business and society.</p> more like this
