It also has a specific role in protecting Serbian Orthodox sites, yet in the south of Kosovo this is coming to an end. KFOR is currently in the process of transferring responsibility for these sites to the Kosovo Police. This is done in consultation with the Serbian Orthodox Church and taking into account the political and security conditions on the ground. In addition, the UK along with our international partners continues to call for more action at the central and grass roots level to tackle issues from the past that impede better inter-ethnic relations.</p><p>In a written statement to the media, Prime Minister Thaci condemned the recent attacks against Kosovo-Serbs and other ethnic-minorities. Other representatives from both the government and opposition condemned the attacks, which were seen locally as being linked to the recent incident at the football match between Serbia and Albania. There has also been condemnation of these attacks by some of the mayors in the areas where these incidents took place.</p><p>The recent spike in attacks against Kosovo-Serbs and their property will have a short term impact on those seeking to return, and some returnees may wish to leave. But such security incidents, specifically those that are ethnically motivated, are not common. In this case, they seem to be connected to the fallout from the recent football match rather than relating to inter-ethnic disputes within a community and should be seen in the broader context of recent efforts. The UK is the biggest bilateral donor supporting the return of Kosovo-Serbs to Kosovo. In addition to helping the returnees, British Government funding also contributes towards community projects that help smooth the returns process in difficult return environments. On 10 November the UK convened a meeting of the Core Group of the Friends of Syria which includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. We reaffirmed our commitment to a genuine political transition in co-operation with the UN Special Envoy; supporting the National Coalition to deliver services and protect the Syrian people; and strengthening measures against the Syrian regime including restricting its access to oil and military hardware. Alongside Foreign Ministers from the region, including Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right hon. Friend the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Mr Hammond), attended an international conference on peace and security in Iraq in Paris in September 2014. We continue to encourage governments throughout the region to support Prime Minister al-Abadi in his efforts to promote inclusive governance and advance the national reconciliation process. <br><br>Iran has an important role to play in the region and we have an ongoing dialogue on regional issues as part of our engagement via non-resident Chargé d’Affaires. The Prime Minister, my right hon. Friend the Member for Witney (Mr Cameron), also discussed regional issues with President Rouhani on 24 September 2014. In Iraq, Iran’s support for the new government is welcome, as is its effort to promote more inclusive governance for all Iraqis. We are open to discussing Syria with Iran and raise the issue in our contacts with them. We have consistently raised Iraq’s responsibility to observe international laws and obligations in our contacts with Human Rights interlocutors within the Government of Iraq. The UK has not, to date, made representations to the new Government of Iraq in regards to accession to the Rome Statute or accepting ICC jurisdiction in relation to the current situation in the country. Any decision to involve the ICC in the situation in Iraq must be made on the basis of whether the court would prove an effective means of bringing the perpetrators of atrocities to justice. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/12/2014 answer text Our Ambassador designate met the Indonesian Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights on 18 November and raised the rights of religious minorities and freedom of expression. He was assured that the bill for the Protection of Religious People/Minorities would be submitted to parliament soon. We also maintain a regular dialogue with religious leaders, civil society and government officials on freedom of religion or belief; as well as supporting project work, such as human rights training. The third EU-Indonesia Human Rights Dialogue was held on 12 November and, in response to concerns we raised, the new Indonesian government underlined the importance they attach to tackling discrimination against religious minorities. We are encouraged that the newly inaugurated Indonesian government has already taken some positive steps to promote freedom of religion or belief. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/12/2014 answer text <p>The Government has supported the establishment of the Office of the Ministry of Interior’s Ombudsman and the Prisoners’ and Detainees’ Rights Commission (PDRC) in Bahrain through the provision of UK training and expertise. In 2013, we funded Northern Ireland Cooperation Overseas’ (NICO) work with the Office of the Police Ombudsman on several priority areas. This included sharing UK best practice on complaints procedures, investigation reports and the role of prison inspection. We have built on this work, and since early 2014 we have been supporting NICO to deliver a 15 month package of support to help build the capacity of the Ombudsman's Office, increase accountability and public confidence. Investigations by both the Special Investigations Unit of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Interior Ombudsman are ongoing.</p><p>We understand Mr Al Mouswi has been accused of a number of terrorist related charges. We urge any detainee who alleges to have been mistreated and/or tortured to contact the Ministry of Interior Ombudsman, the National Institute for Human Rights and the Prisoner and Detainee Rights Commission.</p><p>The unofficial referendum was called for by the Bahraini proscribed organisation, the 14 February Youth Coalition, who have been responsible for a number of bomb attacks in Bahrain.
