The department does not hold any information on stadium purchases in the UK or subsequent closures. Sport England has a role as a statutory consultee on any planning application for the redevelopment of a stadium where they contain a pitch, as this would fall under the definition of a playing field. In these circumstances if the stadium was proposed to be redeveloped, Sport England would seek a like for like replacement in a suitable location.
