star this property answer text <p>This Government remains committed to stamping out anti-Muslim hatred and all forms of religious prejudice. It is unacceptable for anyone to feel unsafe while practicing their religion and we continue to take a zero-tolerance approach to anti-Muslim hatred. The adoption of a definition of Islamophobia by the Government remains under consideration.</p><p>In 2020-21 DLUHC provided £1.8million in funding for the Faith, Race and Hate Crime Grant Scheme which supported established community groups and civil society organisations to run short projects that champion the Government's commitment to building a diverse and tolerant society for all faiths and races.</p><p>The Government’s new Hate Crime Strategy will be published shortly and will build on the successes of the previous Action Plan in tackling all forms of hate crime.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to promoting and realising equality for LGBT people at home and abroad. The Government’s team of Equality Ministers are leading on commitments such as banning so-called conversion therapy, digitising the gender recognition process and delivering Safe to Be Me: A Global Equality Conference, later this year. The Government is drawing on the services and advice of Lord Herbert of South Downs as the Special Envoy on LGBT rights and Chair of the Conference, Iain Anderson as LGBT Business Champion, as well as Dr Michael Brady as the National LGBT Health Adviser. Ministers and officials regularly engage with stakeholders on a range of issues and will continue to do so.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Earlier last year, the Minister for Women and Equalities set out her top LGBT policy priorities, which we are making good progress towards delivering. We have launched a public consultation on our plans to ban Conversion Therapy; we are digitising the Gender Recognition Certificate application process, having already reduced the fee, and are improving healthcare for trans people. In December 2021, we published the HIV Action Plan, whilst also announcing the end of the ban on HIV+ people joining the UK armed forces. This month we have announced an independent review into the impact of the pre-2000 ban on homosexuality in the armed forces on LGBT veterans, as part of the Veterans’ Strategy Action Plan.</p><p>We have appointed Iain Anderson as LGBT Business Champion, and the Prime Minister has appointed Lord Herbert of South Downs as Special Envoy on LGBT rights, with both an international and domestic focus. The UK will also be hosting its first global LGBT conference in June, <em>Safe To Be Me</em>, which will bring together government representatives, businesses, civil society and international parliamentarians to address the safety of LGBT people at home and abroad.</p><p>The UK Government regularly updates GOV.UK to improve the experience and accessibility of users. The update on 4 January 2022, regarding the 2017 National LGBT Survey and 2018 Action Plan, was to support user access to existing, previously published, documents.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Findings from the National LGBT Survey 2017, which had responses from over 108,000 LGBT people in the UK, found that men were generally slightly more likely to have undergone or been offered conversion therapy (8%) than women (6%). Black/African/Caribbean/black British (13%) and Asian/Asian British (14%) respondents, and respondents belonging to an ‘other’ ethnic group (15%), were more likely than white (7%) respondents to have undergone or been offered conversion therapy.</p><p>Our consultation on banning conversion therapy, which closed on 4 February, collected data on the sex and ethnicity of respondents, along with other demographics. This data will be considered as part of our analysis of consultation results. We have no current plans to undertake any additional research however, alongside the consultation, officials and Ministers continue to engage with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure all perspectives are heard.</p> more like this

Expenditure to that point, and due to the cancellation, is estimated to be between £0.41 million and £0.61 million.</p><p>We are engaging our suppliers to determine whether any costs can be recovered for work that had not yet been undertaken. We are also exploring whether any commitments made could be deferred to support future government events. As a result, these figures are provisional but represent the upper range of the costs the government will incur. As stated in the answer of 26 April 2022 to Question 155906, expenditure to that point, and due to the cancellation, is estimated to be between £0.41 million and £0.61 million. We are still working with suppliers to reconcile costs for work that had not been undertaken at the time of cancellation. The Cabinet Office and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office worked closely together to deliver the Conference.</p><p>The request to publish details of each meeting held in preparation for the Conference and the number of staff present at those meetings can only be provided at disproportionate cost. The Conference was being prepared over the course of several years and until the time of cancellation, the Conference team held numerous meetings with key stakeholders within and outside of government, and through international networks.</p><p> </p> more like this
