answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/05/2024 answer text <p>Tackling Class A drugs, including synthetic opioids, is a priority for the Government and through our 10 year drugs strategy ‘From Harm to Hope’ we are taking action to tackle drugs supply and reduce demand.</p><p>UK agencies are highly alert to the threat from synthetic drugs, including synthetic opioids like fentanyl and nitazenes, as well as synthetic cannabinoids and benzodiazepines. We assess that the scale of trafficking of synthetic opioids into the UK remains low. However, nitazenes, a type of synthetic opioid, have sadly been linked to more than 100 deaths in the UK during the last year, and we are taking action.</p><p>The cross-Government Synthetic Opioids Taskforce is working with partners, such as the NCA, the Department for Health and Social Care and the National Police Chiefs Council to deliver an evidence-based response to the risk posed by synthetic opioids, and to implement effective action to stem the demand and supply of these dangerous substances.</p> answering member constituency Croydon South answering member printed Chris Philp question first answered 02/05/2024 15:55:34 answering member 4503 label Biography information for Chris Philp

question text	To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, what steps she is taking to ensure the sufficiency of youth work services to support and keep young people safe during the 2022 summer holidays.

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/06/2022 answer text <p>Local Authorities have a statutory duty to allocate funding to youth services in line with local need, this includes provision during the summer holidays. This is funded from the Local Government settlement, which was over £12 billion last year.</p><p>DCMS has been working closely with the Department for Education on the Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme, which will provide disadvantaged children and families with access to healthy food and enriching activities during the longer school holidays. The Department for Education is making over £600 million available to Local Authorities in England over the next 3 years to deliver this programme with the funding being distributed through all 152 local authorities in England.</p><p>In addition, the DCMS funded National Citizen Service (NCS) is running a range of activities during the 2022 summer holidays, providing access to adventures away from home, skills development, engaging in local community projects and volunteering opportunities for thousands of young people across the country.</p> answering member constituency Mid Worcestershire answering member printed Nigel Huddleston grouped question UIN 23763 23764 23766 question first answered 30/06/2022 11:25:52 answering member 4407 label Biography information for Nigel Huddleston
