answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/07/2020 answer text <p>HMRC are making changes to ensure that border systems have the capacity and functionality to process anticipated volumes of declarations by the end of the Transition Period. HMRC’s delivery for December 2020 requires the scaling of key IT systems, integration with other Government department systems, and trader and border industry readiness to comply with new requirements. HMRC also need to develop new functionality and processes to implement the Northern Ireland Protocol and get traders, and the wider border industry, ready to use them. HMRC’s plans are on track to meet the requirements of the Northern Ireland Protocol at the end of December 2020 and the staging in of customs controls by July 2021.</p><p> </p><p>HMRC have clear plans to develop delivery plans with carriers and operators, accommodating technical build and testing activity in line with their individual plans to December. Technical discussions with carriers and operators to supplement this testing are in progress and will continue through to 31 December 2020. HMRC are also working with Community System Providers (CSPs), Software Developers (SWDs) and the wider border industry to ensure they are aware of and can prepare for border arrangements. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/02/2020 answer text <p>The requirement for Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs) to hold adequate Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) cover is an important element in protecting consumers who receive financial advice. The Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) handbook sets out the various requirements around the PII cover that IFAs are required to hold.</p><p> </p><p>There is no intention to raise the minimum PII cover levels for IFAs at present. The minimum limit of indemnity of PII is specified by FCA rules and European legislation such as the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD), depending upon the type of IFA. The UK is no longer a Member State of the European Union. However, both the UK and the EU are committed to a period of transition – lasting until the end of 2020 – where common rules for businesses and consumers will remain in place, including the IDD.</p><p> </p><p>Many IFAs are in scope of the IDD, because they undertake life assurance type transactions. IDD limits are reviewed every five years via regulatory technical standards and were last reviewed in November 2019 and the revised limits, which have increased slightly, will apply to IFAs that are IDD firms from 12 June 2020.</p><p> </p><p>The FCA are continuing work to examine consumer harms, and potential claims that may arise from certain business activities carried out by IFAs; and these findings may prompt a further examination of the minimum levels of indemnity in the future.</p> answering member constituency Salisbury answering member printed John Glen question first answered 06/02/2020 16:56:33 answering member 4051 label Biography information for John Glen

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund will strengthen the foundations of productivity as set out in our modern Industrial Strategy to support people to benefit from economic prosperity. This new Fund will ensure that investments are targeted effectively to align with the challenges faced by places, creating a fresh opportunity to focus investment according to our own priorities. We are continuing to work on the design and priorities and we will consult widely on the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This will give all interested parties the chance to contribute their views to Government. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/05/2019 answer text <p>Since 2014 MHCLG has invested £55.5 million in services in England to support victims of domestic abuse, including refuges.</p><p>Our £10 million fund to local authorities (2014-2016), where we released £3 million in 2014 and £7 million in 2015, helped 148 local authorities strengthen refuge provision for victims and offer support to women from outside their own area.</p><p>The £3.5 million fund (2015-2016), also released in 2015, supported 46 local authorities and their partners to deliver 710 new bed spaces for 3,798 victims of domestic abuse.</p><p>Through our £20 million fund (2016-2018) we released £3.2 million in 2016 and £17.2 million in 2017. This supported 80 projects across the country, helping to create more than 2,000 bed spaces and giving support to over 19,000 victims and their families.</p><p>My Department’s current £22 million fund (2018-2020) is supporting 63 projects across England to provide support for over 25,000 victims, and their families, and over 2,200 additional bed spaces in accommodation-based services, including refuge. To facilitate this, we released £9.8 million in 2018 and on 30 April 2019 we released the final instalment of £12.2 million to cover the 2019 to 2020 financial year. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/03/2018 answer text <p>The National Food Crime Unit (NFCU) is an intelligence unit which does not currently have the remit, resources or powers to conduct its own investigations or prosecutions. Intelligence gathered and analysed is therefore disseminated to partners, primarily in local authorities.</p><p> </p><p>The NFCU became fully operational in early 2016. That year it disseminated 503 individual pieces of intelligence to partners making a further 595 disseminations in 2017. As local authority and policing partners are responsible for deciding what enforcement action is appropriate, the NFCU does not routinely receive feedback on the outcome of these disseminations. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/04/2016 answer text <p>Monitoring food businesses to ensure compliance with legislation on food labelling and composition is the responsibility of county councils, unitary authorities, the London Boroughs and some but not all metropolitan borough councils. These local authorities are also responsible for taking enforcement action, including prosecutions, where non-compliance is found.</p><p>Data is reported to the Food Standards Agency (FSA) on the number of food analyses undertaken in relation to compositional issues and labelling and presentation issues; 23,599 analyses were undertaken in 2014/15, 16,899 for compositional issues and 6,700 for labelling and presentation issues.</p><p>Data is also reported to the FSA on the total number of prosecutions concluded for food standards issues. This includes action in relation to composition, labelling and presentation but also for other issues such as chemical contamination. In 2014/15, 75 United Kingdom food establishments were subject to prosecution.</p><p>The FSA has recently established a central register of successful food law prosecutions.
